it looks like no way he will recover
he is racing since san luis and he is not improving , even getting worse.
lavenu brought him to europe early ,in the hope of controlling him , burt it look like it is not working.
probably he is not doing "le metier" , "la vita"
i am very disappointed , he is a great talent.
i hope i am wrong

Like other riders does not have families or what?

His problem is that he is homesick and he does NOT want to be in Europe. He wants to be in Colombia with his family therefore he got no motivation to train and race.

He is done ... until the paycheck stops coming, perhaps then he will be forced to get off his lazy azz and start training again.

Well, in that case, he is not coming back ... unless he already spent all that money as he would not be the first athlete/celebrity to blow it all and go bankrupt ... time will tell

I also believe that his main problem could be homesickness. But if you were right, why was he able to come of big results in the last years?

Somehow I find it hard to believe that 2 years with Masciarelli and 3 with ag2r is enough to last 50 years

40th today, moving up to 117th in GC. Still Catalunya, Pais Vasco and Romandie to race.

He will be in great form for the Giro.

I believe.

Today is quite a good sign! Most important thing is to see improvement.

1.) He is still little overweight, but to me it does not look like too much. Should be possible to loose a couple pounds until the Giro starts.

2.) He just arrived in Europe two (or three) days before Strade Bianche. After poor performances the first days he hopefully will start to improve. Think about jetlag and so on... Their are a lot of reasons why it takes some time to get results.

This. Above all, he's now in Europe until the beginning of the Giro (I suppose, you never know with Betancur), so I hope his trainer (Bartoli?) / team take good care of him and make him train as it should be.

Can't wait for the Giro to see Betancur surprise them all.

Two years ago Bananito was almost invisible until Pais Vasco, but today actually shows some kind of improvement, he might even be ahead of his planned curve. ;) Let's hope his training base is strong enough for him to have that kind of peak again through April and May, otherwaise he'll fall off again soon.
