I was talking to an insider about him.....has a bad rep of signing contract and disappearing into the Colombia night life scene...
Not sure some teams could cope with him

But he will stay at Movistar I think...has just done enough to get another contract ....and anyway as Nibali is complaining about , good mountain guys are hard to find at the moment ... even if Carlos spends most of his contract down the night club

Deep wound in his chin and a visit to the dentist.
That isn't bad at all. After this, he can't open his mouth and eat burgers anymore.
Unfortunately the next stages were the best for him to take a win but I think he can do it from the break on stage 11

This is really sad, Betancur had the probably once in a lifetime chance to lead a team and was well placed in the GC, as well as according to today's form also the legs to take his chance, and ends up crashing. Hopefully he can continue and fully recover to make action in breakaways.

BETANCUR ABANDONS VUELTA A ESPAÑA

Fracture to external malleolus in right ankle forces Colombian from Movistar Team to end his participation in the Spanish race; crash just after showing impressive form against GC contenders on day six.

Carlos Betancur will not be able to continune racing in the 2017 Vuelta a España after his crash in the descent of the Alto del Garbí, the final climb on stage six of the race. The Movistar Team rider was sitting in 16th place overall and had shown his best performance so far in the Vuelta today, by making it into the seven-man GC group created by a series of attacks from Alberto Contador. However, the Colombian couldn't avoid the crash by Tejay van Garderen (BMC), who was covering the downhill just before him.

In a show of pure courage, Betancur managed to complete the stage, crossing the line 12 minutes after the winner, before being transferred to the University Hospital of Sagunto. The Colombian underwent there a CT scan and radiological checks to his pelvis, which ruled out any damage to his head and hip. However, X-ray tests on his right ankle revealed a fracture to the external malleolus, which required a plaster cast that will prevent Betancur from continuing in the 2017 Vuelta. The Movistar Team has later been moved to the La Fe hospital in Valencia, in order to have surgery to his face to heal the wounds produced by the crash.

After a good Tour de France for him (18th place overall), Betancur had become the Movistar Team's main chance for the overall classification following the crash suffered by Dani Moreno at Tarragona's finale on stage four Tuesday, an incident the Spaniard is still suffering from.

Man, Movistar had a great spring campaign, but did it ever go downhill from there on. Not that I expected a lot out of this Vuelta, but it's still shaping up to be an increasingly frustrating three weeks, i'm ready for the 2018 season

Noooooooooooooo!

I had such high hope for him here. Think about how he feels! He was putting everything on this vuelta. He was probably thinking about his future. So sad.

For the time being I hope he recovers from this. Good luck Bananito.
