He's a pro bike rider and wins lots of bike races.

You blokes couldn't beat time with a stick, I guess that's why you're so jealous of him.

Build a bridge lads and get over it.

Not jealous, why would I want to be an *** like him?

Cav's just a normal bloke. He had his teeth done in the off season and that's gone a bit wrong. Now his team are trying to get him to sign a **** new contract when he is worth double what they are offering. He'l happily coast along this season and join a new team and win again all next year. None of you are worthy to even do his shoe straps up, he's the worlds best sprinter and is a normal fallible bloke. It's funny seeing just how wound up some of you get though. He gives a normal interview, doesn't hide behind a team press officer and sometimes says the wrong thing. Fair play to him.

I agree with most of this. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the press necessarily thrives on generalising the complexities of an individual.

This is a relationship of three parties: Cavendish (who will extemporise what he wants to extemporise), the writer (who will write whatever he/she wants to write) and the reader (who will read whatever he/she wants to read). All of which equates to Chinese Whispers in printed form.

Very few of us here can call ourselves properly informed. I am sympathetic to Cavendish not because I share his nationality or his fascinating dental history, but because Kimmage is a good hack who offers enough insight to suggest that I share a few things in common with his interviewee.

So I think that a few people who are sounding off blindly here have either a) different life experience to Cavendish as reported by Kimmage or b) are not looking or are not prepared to look closely enough at themselves.

//edit: Hibbles has since gone over similar ground!

If I were you I would just concentrate on not being a ***, you'll ever be like Cav or any pro cyclist for that matter I reckon.

Does it bother me that I will never be like any cyclist? No!

Very much happy with my life.

I thought that was a fantastic interview. Kimmage used to bring too much of himself to bear in his writing, but now he really is the best sports journalist in the UK by a country mile.

Cav is clearly prone to dark thoughts and in a bit of a dark place at the moment, I hope he can channel it more positively through the Summer and in the Autumn, particularly in Australia...

spot on, i think the stories of cav as a 15 year old having to take his own bike on ferries to mainland uk with no parent help just to race is a good indicator.

unfortunately you making generalisations about cav's history to which you don't have all the facts have already tainted you with the *** tag

if you can show us that cav had the perfect childhood with loving parents that paid thousands upon thousands of dollars to support his cycling and provided him the the emotional support as well, then you can claim he's a *** because he turned his back on his parents

unfortunately the evidence appears to be that cav's parents didnt provide him with that support. there is alot more too it than has been expressed in the media.

cav's antics aside, i'm just glad of watching history being written. it's highly likely cav will go down in history as one of the best sprinters of all time. Contador is a similar case. for some reason i just dont like him but i can't pin it down to anything specific, it's just one of those things. but i can appreciate the fact that we're watching history being written with him also

I actually like Cav. I thought what he said about Greipel last week was pretty poor form, but after reading the article this week, I can understand where he was coming from. It has been a tough season for him, and when you are used to winning, not doing so would affect anyone negatively. If he goes to Sky, he is dead to me though.:D

with a brother being done for drugs also suggesting all is not well within the Cav household, [Ignore].

who on this forum hasn't got personal experience of someone close with a drug problem whether from the rich or poor side of the tracks?

I think Cav would prefer to be labelled a D/H than have know-it-all would be sociologists pick his family life to bits.

These sprinters all wanna be Mohamed Ali!
entertaining.

CAV won't ever be the 'greatest' unless he keeps it together though. You never heard Sean Kelly weeping (or raging) about his disadvatage

yes, cav has not had the nest chilhood but in life after a certain age, cav can know and does know between right and wrong and what's not so smart to say. We are all maps of our environment but we can all make choices. People are too easy to put blame on parents when someone is not that nice of a person. We can make choices.

Cycling is a very expensive sport. With an educated guess you could say that his parents probably would of spent a lot of money getting him gear.

Don't just shoot me because I don't like him as others who have posted have similar views. It is good that he has admitted to not being the best human being but after his greipel comments I lost 99% of respect I had for him. His comments are not a sign of a true champion.

I'd suggest 99% of people haven't got personal experience of a sibling being sent down for 6 years for smuggling Coke.

Oh, and Cav hasn't been "weeping about his disadvantage". Show me where he has. Don't confuse what someone says with what others say about that person. Some of us were explaining that some people have reasons why they would not want to see their parents at the end of the Tour, and suggesting Cav shouldn't be crucified by people who know the square root of f***-all about his life. Not exactly picking his life to bits.

So he can be attacked by people who haven't got a clue but can't be defended?

Full respect to you oh mighty defender of the Cav! (was he really that angry? is he really that vulnerable?)

Where would he be without his trusty forum bodyguard? (though i suspect he'd batter you for your strange take on things rather than anyone who might call him a D/H)

For your information, this kind of posting is exactly why Hibbles asked me to delete his account.

Ferdinand, I have spoken to you before about your aggressive style in this forum. This is your last warning.

It's a Ford Fusion, which I discovered is totally different here in Germany than in the US. It is a mini-van/SUV rather than a sedan. Lots of head- and leg-room for tall people with bad backs. :)

Susan

Sounds good. Leg room for a tall person like me (188cm) is v important. Tip for fleche?

was it the use of bold or the content?

it was him with the bad language 'n all, Miss.

I am heaps sorry that Hibbles is gone... RIP
I think if he ever did neutral analysis of his own posts he might realise he was a somewhat antagonistic person too. I am certainly learning a lot about all this forum 'goings on' and am sure i am well on the way to becoming a better person.

Hibble- I salute your memory!

Well slap me down and call me Djamolidine Abdoujaparov, because you are the same height as me!
