Well, at least we've seen Froome at Barloworld, although we only learned to appreciate that later on.

Also, why should we care how much these people make? I think I know the answer to that one

of course not, but i'm in the know of the general mood. if there was no froome in cycling, gts could have been easier for contador and nibali imo. isn't it a maximum cycling pleasure to see bertie beating a mutant version of the dawg? ;)

I don't care much what they make. Athletes are always under or overpaid depending on who you compare them to. It's never gonna be fair.

Evidently money can make a champion.
Evidently champions can make money.

I'm fairly certain it can buy happiness as well no matter what they say.
A research was done and money buys happiness up to about €58.000 a year. :)

apparently lottery winners who win £5 million are the happiest. so if froomie quits at the end of this year he would be happy, as would 2/3 of the board.

What I was getting at, of course, is that today's sport is about budget capacity. Whichever teams have the most money at their disposal, also have the most "voice" in the narrative that the sport in question finds most congenial to its profits. Anything that strikes at that narrative, is a hit against the sports credibility and is thus considered a mortal enemy and attacked accordingly. As such the sport itself can build or dismantel a champion to its liking, according to what the economics deem fit.

This is not fortuitous, because it creates a conflict of interests between the teams and the governing institutions.

What the public may like to see consequently isn't necessarily what those invested in the business want. That about sums it up.

I believe he will be at least as fast as in 2013: https://twitter.com/chrisfroome/status/685890864846094337

He will need to be at his very best at the tour if all the main contenders are in shape.
This will be a big year for his TT. The likes Of Aru will be very aggressive and then if Bertie is in shape, Froome is going to loose time in the Mountains and maybe even Quintana will be more aggressive and learnt for his very conservative tactics at last years tour and the could be a surprise contender as well . Now JV has his hands on Rolland he said there is more to come

I wonder in what degree the new riders and Thomas can make up for Porte leaving. Porte was one of the most important reasons Froome could clobber like he did on PSM and A3x.

A fresh Leopold Konig should be a big help, him, Nieve, Poels, Roche and G should be able to dish out a fair amount of pain.

I hope Froomedawg gave Poels a bloody good present for that stage last year he dragged him back several times so he will do it again this year. Poels is already pissed off he wasnt Giro leader

Wouldn't be shocked if Sky let him go him up the road on one or two of the third week mountain stages to save the other mountain doms.

Poels was good, but he's just not good enough to reel in the likes of Nibali and Valverde with a mocking smile on his face.

Out sprinting Quintana for bonus seconds is something every domestique should aim for
