You've got to be kidding. With the exception of Nairo, you're talking about some of the best one day riders in the world. All have impressive one day results, even Nairo. And there will be smaller teams and Froome won't have his usual advantage of having the strongest team working for him, though they should be solid.

To say he has a similar chance to those guys is ridiculous.
Apart from BalaVerde and Rui Costa, you're really overhyping these guys. Contador has only won a classic in his life, and none at all on the World Tour level. Purito is racing the year too many, and Urán is decent but certainly not among "the best one-day riders in the world".
Uran's got a damn good one-day resume, particularly considering he almost always focuses on the Giro and not the Ardennes.

He's won Quebec and finished 3rd, finished 3rd at Lombardia twice, 5th at Liège and got the silver at the Olympics. He also has good results at some smaller one days. Froome's one-day palmares is...?
Lo Squalo has a better chance than any of these guys, but it's certainly not true that they're getting overhyped. The race is being run at altitude, which benefits Uran; he'll have one of the strongest teams in the race behind him, and if he's on form he's an excellent bet for a medal. One-day racing is completely different to GTs, especially in this age of specialism. If the TT course is hard enough, I think Froome will have a decent chance there, but there's no way he'll take a race which is being run on unfamiliar roads, in high humidity, and with tiny teams; it's going to be chaos, and while I rate Froome highly, he's not going to beat proven classics guys just because the race has a bit more climbing than Lombardia (especially given Nibali, Uran and so on have all podiumed GTS with high-mountain stages). I think Yates could make a good showing, if he doesn't show too much this season and is allowed freedom to attack.

(On Contador as a classics contender, wins aren't everything - he's made strong showings in the Ardennes before, and if he had ever become a man and committed to them, I think he could have got some impressive results.)

Uran has been always there in the long and hilly one day races even when he is not in good shape. He got the silver medal in the olimpics, he wanst in good shape.

He has won Quebec and Giro de Piamonte, he has been top 5 in Lieje and 2 times podium in lombardia, first one with just 21 years. He was with the best: Valverde, Rui Costa, Nibali and Purito when he crashed at6 the end of Florencia. He did an attack in the last climb in richmond, with just Sagan ahead...he lloked strong but that parcours was mopre for coble people... I have followed him in any races since he was 19 and he has the potential to beat anyone in a one day classic, in the weather is not bad. He use to have bad luck and he use to do the wrong tactics, but he has the potential.

There is a really hard race, that climb is for climbers who are not very bad in a one day races. if people as froome or contador are much better than rivals as Purito or Valverde, they can win. Froome used to go in Barloworld to one day classic in Italy. He didnt do very well, becouse he is a rider for Tours, but he wanst that bad, one victory, one podium, some good result more...

And Froome today is much better than in Barloword, when he was young and with a lot to learn and pulish.

If people think Froome cant performe very well at the olimpics becouse is a one day race, some people are going to be amazed.

He probably is. My dad is dead. Come on my points are valid. I think froome was a worthy tour winner last year. He hung on really well at the end and deserved is win . I have nit said.any different.
I made a bet because I'm happy to back up my opinions. Simple.its all good .
Just debating. Your welcome froome fans to debate in the Bertie thread. I got no issues with that.

Like Taxus, I too am not a mere fan. I think of myself as a dispassionate and objective observer concerned only with truth and reason.

Yes indeed, the only difference is that you always try to talk up Froome while you try to bring down Contador.
Maybe becouse is what I read. There are already a lot of Contador fans saying wrong things IMO, so I argue why.

Taxus being a very objective and knowledgeable fan before Giro TT:

From the favourites:

Porte
Rigo 10 sec
Amador 30 sec
Hesjedal 1 10
Van der Broek 1:20
Contador 2:20
Aru 3:10
Cunego 3:50
Caruso 4.00
Landa 5:30

Cataldo, Kreuziger, Koning, Kiriyenka, Kangert,,..could do it really well, but as domestiques I dont Know
Seriously, how on earth do you except people to care about your opinions as you have no clue about cycling, yet you insist that you knew Froome would be the next big thing even though you have no clue about what will happen 8 hours later.

If you put hereall my predictions, you will see how I use to be right.
I was wrong that day and I admitted that.

Rigo and Porte were afected by his crash and they didnt perform at his best level, we saw that next days, they losed big time, although rigo recover for the end.

Rigo beated Contador in a shorter ITT in Vuelta a España the previous year.

Contador did an amazing ITT, he was 2 minutes better I predicted, and Rigo and Porte were afected by his crash and did 2 and 4 minutes below his level. The rest I wanst so wrong. It was the best long ITT for Contador in his life, and he won the race there. Maybe to see Landa at the begining help a little, but he was very strong and I congratulate him.

I was just answering. We talk about cycling, it is impossible to talk about cycling changing threads for the same conversation. Maybe in other countries that is normal, but not in Spain.

Hesjedal did never beat Contador in any TT in his whole life and you say that Contador would have lost more than one minute at the end of 2nd week of a GT.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

Edit: I guess that was his 5th TT over 50km and he did really well in 4 of 5 long TTs (2007 Tour*2, 2008 Olympics, 2010 Tour, 2015 Giro) and he usually does really well in TT's with 40-50km. (except 2013)
