I want a super strong Froome, so there are no excuses when Quintana and Contador drop him like a bad habit :D

Froome was super strong at Ax3, PSM, Mont V. It's save to say that he will never climb better than on those occasions, he can only hope to reach that level again this year and the coming years.

Where would you see Quintana and Contador finishing in those stages with the form you expect them to have this year.

A minute up the road? :p

Anywhere between s.t. (just maybe like 15s faster) and a lot closer than Porte was in those stages. I will never believe Porte would beat Contador and Quintana in great form after pulling the peloton earlier on the climb

He looked strong on those climbs because the opposition was weak. He got beat by TD at the vuelta last year when he tried a bonkers attack and could not drop Bertie at the dauphin with a bonkers attack.
These singular attacks do nothing over 3 weeks. When it comes to consistent climbing he cant sustain that.
When he attacked Bertie at the dauphine and could not drop him he knew it was over . Bertie gets stronger , Froome does not. So Froome can be in the best form of is life [2013?] but its not good enough against a 90% Bertie and a more aggressive Quintana or some of the other climbers and contenders who if they have the bal%s could blow the tour wide open.
Like I said I'm happy to bet you a jersey that Froome will be out of contention before the last week of the tour.

What is a 90% Bertie? I believe in 2013 he was around 90% and was humiliating bad. You need to be 100% to win tour no doubt. To say froome 2013 the most impressive gc performance post Armstrong would lose to 90% bertie is ridiculous. Even Bertie 09 would seriously struggle against froome 2013. Let's not forget that berties competition in his tour wins were far from stellar. What's more he barely won in 07 and 10.
Funny you mention him losing to TD in vuelta second tour of the year. What about bertie being outclassed all of the third week (apparently where he is his strongest) in the giro last year.

You'd think people had something better to do than troll and bait people on a cycling forum.

Thing with PSM was that the extreme heat and the nature of the stage both were favourable to Froome and as a result he was able to create a much bigger gap over Quintana than their respective levels would have suggested.

Anyway, if everything goes as planned for all the favourites, he is in for the toughest battle of his career in the Tour. And if Quintana's improvement in spring means also an improvement in July, even his usual superpeak might not be enough for Froome.

So thats cross winds and the heat that is good to him..next up he will win in Dubai

They're all just terrified of Froome's ever expanding skillset, rain and breakaway specialist Dawg to go with his cobbled, steep climb and descending vintages circa 2015

When have we seen Froome's ability on the cobbles?

The toughest sector last year was a 3* sector, while Froome didn't make it to the cobbles in 2014.

Froome could be as good as Nibali or as bad as Contador for all we know

Well hopefully they put another Paris-Roubais style stage in next year and we can find out.

Was that the section that Thomas and Froome dropped AC, and NQ where only Sagan could pull them back and Nibs could only hang on for dear life

With nearly all the French hopefuls Podium hopes dashed on that stage we may not see the cobbles again anytime soon.

I suspect the top riders will be making their way to the Giro instead next year (100th edition)

Weakish Tour is a prospect one or more of the top riders will go for I imagine, though few all round GC contenders go all out on Tour 3 years or more in a row. Obviously it would be awesome if they all did it. I'd expect Contador and Nibali to go close to 100% sure, for Quintana and Froome I think this Tour's result is gonna matter a lot
