Thank god it's not a popularity contest then. All theses folk having so much hate for the dawg yet they're so obsessed with him

Hate is such a strong word. I hope that people genuinely don't hate the guy.

If anyone read my intro post they will know my Spanish/British background. I support the British riders (waits, bored, for the Froome is not British post) but I was born in Spain, I am Spanish and I will always support the Spanish riders over anyone. That's just my love of my country of birth I suppose.

I love Alejandro and Alberto. I would dearly love to see Alberto win the Tour this year, it would be a beautiful dream for me and I believe he can do it. I have total respect for Froome though as a GC contender, he has proven himself on many occasions and you won't see me making negative comments about him. Personally I hate negativity.

Let's be honest, if he was riding for Dimension Data and finishing 5th to 10th in Grand Tours I imagine he would be getting little to no hate. The odd laugh about his riding style I'm sure but no more.

Obviously being employed by Team Sky, winning lots of races against other peoples favorites riders, other things of course, matters that can only be discussed in another part of the forum is too much for some people.

I will never be influenced to like or dislike a rider depending on the team they are employed by. As for the winning against other peoples favorites, well, that's sport. As for what we can't mention here, I know Spanish racing and it's recent history, I am not and will never be a hypocrite, that's all I can say.

Obviously this is just my own pov, people that want to hate go on hating I suppose. I really don't have it in me though, despite it's flaw this sport is just so beautful to me it seems such a shame not to be positive about it.

Sorry for rambling, bring on the Giro and fingers crossed for Alejandro and Landa.

You can't deny that Froome is an extremely attacking and entertaining rider. How many people would bother attacking from over 5k out if they already have the race lead and just need to not get dropped?

Froome is one of those riders that can say that all his career can be discussed in this part of the forum, that is maybe one of the things make me have respect for him.

I coudnt watch Romandie, now I did. I dont know what to think about Froome.

the second stage he was so close to the group... he is not very good in that explosive efforst when there are still 50 riders left, but he looked even to avoid the cars...you cant be so legal always... I dont mean to do the same than Nibali in la Vuelta, but at least go close to the team cars, and more if you dont have team. Anyway, he didnt look very strong to come back.

In the ITT the same, good one, but no super, and the last day at least he won, he droped Van garderen in bad weather, so it is a good signal, but he is still far of his best version.

A first part of the season for him with more unknows than other things. At least he won a race and a World Tour stage, so I hope he keep concentracion and motivation as always to come back in Dauphine at a similar level to last years.

I think is just a question of take it easy thinking in the historic triple, but there are doubts to solve.

Very bad from SKY in this race... they didt stop a little Thomas the second stage, and finally Thomas was 51 th...

I think few people say Froome is not an agressive rider. However I'd say his agression is formulaic and predictable.

SKY do very good some things, but very bad other things...

Yesterday I knew Landa attack with Lopez previous to Arrate was a Landa idea.

They have to improve some things. They have to optimize no just the performance or the training or the day by day life of the riders, but to optimize race strategy, rivals weakness, to use properly his potential analysing the route, ...

With Henao not racing until his biological passport case is sorted and Konig/Intxausti getting ill/injured so far this season. Leaving Roche and Nieve to ride the Giro when it wasn't necessarily in their original race schedule. Does anyone feel Sky's tour squad is very much up in the air at the moment?

Froome, Thomas, Poels, Kwiatkowski, Stannard & Rowe are nailed on. But the other 3 spots are anyone's guess?

- Intxausti, will he show enough at Suisse?
- Konig, will he show enough at Slovenia?
- Landa/Roche/Nieve, can any of them double up and be effective?
- Kennaugh/Swift, off to California, if in contention would surely ride Dauphine/Suisse/Slovenia instead?
- Anyone else?

Why not just create a dedicated Team Sky thread? I did the same for Movistar and I know Anderis did it for Cannondale, its a good place to discuss anything related to the team, mostly lineups, but also riders that not necessarily don't have their own thread and such.

Well I've changed the title to "Team Sky thread".

I added "Discussion" to the title, as we always do when there's similarly named threads in the clinic.

It'll keep any confusion at bay hopefully.

after his wind tunnel testing this morning, Froome has improvised a #ridewithfroomey invitation on Twitter.

Didn't Armstrong used to do these type of things in Dublin and Australia? Froomey channeling Lance?

"Good morning Dublin. Who wants to ride this afternoon? I do. 5:30pm @ the roundabout of Fountain Rd and Chesterfield Ave. See you there," Armstrong tweeted.

When the American arrived he was mobbed by fans, many jostling for a prime position at the front of the pack with one of cycling's all-time greats.

The 38-year-old, who is in Ireland for a global cancer summit, said: "For me, I like to ride my bike anyway, so on a very simple level it's a very sunny, beautiful day in Dublin and I'd be going for a bike ride anyway.

"The story is, it's a great city and it's a great park. It's a great evening to go out."

From about 4.30pm, scores of cyclists travelled from every corner of the city en route to the famous park.

Along with winning the Tour 7 times, I believe a PR victory and the Hour Record are on Froome's to do list. And Olympic Gold.
