Froome, the god of taxus.

Of course no. I just only analize cycling. I have no any god, I critized him and sky a lot the other day for the TTT.

But I dont see people in this forum saying: Contador, the god of la florecilla, it looks like if you talk about any other rider is wrong.

I'm sure Contador has been called the god of La Flo and probably a lot of other stuff as well.

It took me awhile to get past my own biases but find myself looking forward to Taxus4a, LaFlorecita and a few others posts. they usually come across with passion for their views while avoiding the immature bile spilled by some.

Disappointing today :( He's clearly in no condition at the moment to win this and i don't see how he can improve anymore,2012 Vuelta all over again.Considering that Roche and Nieve were unleashed shows that he knows he's not in the game.

As I said beforehand, top 5 and a stage win for Froome this Vuelta. I still think he could ride into some sort of form over the next 2 weeks but is suffering at this stage.

I know circumstances are different this time around, but he also lots time to Contador and co on the first mountain finish at last years Vuelta.

He didn't take the Vuelta that seriously, he road like 8 crits (according to belgian commentators, I didn't check), so he was always going in with not too much expectations whilst hoping the watts would be returned to him.

Still, getting grilled by 15 riders of whom only 2 have won GT's before is kinda worse than getting grilled by 4 GT champions

Yes, that's true, I always feel the cycling is a bit analised when you talk(spam) about it.

Give Froome a chance to ride himself into form. Comparing one stage result to the final GC position is an apples to oranges comparison. At Pierre-St-Martin, the rider in question was actually grilled by 10 riders, so not entirely different. All things considered, I do doubt that Froome will finish top 5, but we will see in a couple weeks.

it's not difficut to get froome so remorselessly as you do. if one aims to seem consistent in any regard, it makes more sense to compare today to the stage 10 of the tour doesnt it? :p

What's disappointing? After seeing the back of Quintana dissapearing in the distance in the last week of Le Tour, after countless crits and probably as much Belgian beers while preparing for the Vuelta, after getting exhausted doing the physio tests what did you expect? Combined with those tests, Vuelta will definitely prove he is human.

Yup, to be fair he was trying to down play his chances as much as possible before the race. Stage 11 will completely finish him off.

Nope, I didn't really even want him to race the Vuelta. But modern history dictates that the next Tour winner races the previous years Vuelta.

Top 10 is definitely possible. I personally think he'll get better as things go on.

I thought he had a chance of winning it, its not all over yet, he could be trying what he done last year and find his legs later on, and i believe that if he didn't think he could win it he shouldn't do it, he doesn't need to be there

this is not a last year situation, totally different situations
improving as the race goes on would be a huge surprise
normally, from now on he will fade away in my opinion exactly like in 2012

Wasn't expecting him to win, but I was expecting him to do well today - possibly even a stage win before a decline for the rest of the vuelta

Don't see why people think he'll improve. The fatigue from the tour isn't going to go away as the vuelta progresses, it's just going to get worse.

I wouldn't call it "disappointing", but not promising at all.
Lets wait the Wednesday before definite judgement. I really doubt the Tour champion would ride Vuelta to fight for a top 10 position.

He was way better in the first week of the vuelta that week. He started fading during the ITT that year (after 10-11 days).

I don't know why anyone thought he could do this. Seen his last week of the tour, he was cooked. And last time he did a double he was freewheeling one of the easiest tours ever and still couldn't even podium the vuelta.

Whilst he did struggle during the last week of the Tour and would have lost time to Quintana anyway, he was also suffering from a chest infection, listen to his voice in the final couple of stage interviews and you can clearly hear his voice is hoarse.

Well, Froome has the luxury to say *** it, i'mma work for Roche, or Nieve, or go stage hunting. Contador couldn't really do that with all his talk of the double
