"In a way, I think that tomorrow's time trial, whoever leaves absolutely everything out there in the time trial will pay for it the day after on Los Machucos. It's a really tough final week, and I think that every day has to be ridden thinking about what is coming up," he said.

He might be chatting a bit of sh*t here to play mind games, but if not, he is making a big mistake not going all out for the TT.

FWIW, I think he will go all in tomorrow for the TT, similar to last years Vuelta TT.
Ehh... not sure what to make of that. Surely just mind games.

Yea that's the first time I've heard a GC contender implying they won't go all out in a TT. Will be a good stage anyways.

Very weird. Enough to make me think he was probably misquoted. Why would any of the GC contenders hold back in the TT ? Makes little sense. Maybe what he meant to say is that riders will pay the next day which goes without saying.

If Froome wins the Vuelta, what chance that he targets the Giro next year?

He will have 2 of the set of 3, so he is only 1 off completing that, and he will also have the chance to hold all 3 GT's at once, which would be incredible.

He may want to only try the Giro once he feels like he can't win the Tour (or has won 5), but by then it might be too late. Next season might be his last as a true GT contender.

none. at least until he wins the fifth tour.
the team will be led by thomas to try the giro.

I've wanted Froome to ride the Giro for a couple of years now, if he wins the Vuelta it makes absolute sense to ride the Giro and try and hold all 3 GT's at the same time.

I fear that wont happen however, he seems fully focussed on trying to win 5 Tours.

well Froome had not good memories of giro d'italia , maybe he doesn't want to relive those , but for sure he will try giro d'italia , but the chances he wins it are almost none because he will ride it to prepare letour

and to be bold i hope he doesn't win a 5 letour , now Sky has 5 tour out of 8 edition is pretty insane , if he wins again next year it will be 6 tour in 9 edition something never witnessed , neither in the usps team

almost for sure froome will never start the giro imo. using the giro to prepare for another tour is not what a rider of his calibre will go for. being a winner of recent three different grand tours looks a very alluring prospect from our fans perspective, but i don't think froome and sky management think so. ten to one he is going to try to win fifth tour title.

speaking about the fact that he doesn't want to go full *** this could mean that his energy is going down , if he told the truth , and he wants to win a stage less but try to survive to win the overall

Froome also told that he doesn't expect to gain much time in tt , he said that would be fantastic to extend the lead , so maybe my prediction of Nibali gain time could be true , who knows

from the schedule time of stage 16 the time trial will be finished by the best riders is 49 minutes , so av speed will be 49,22 not that high will see if Froome could win it but i doubt

I don't know why anyone listens to anything cyclists say! Especially the leading GC riders. It's so many layers of smoke and mirrors, with a fair load of smelly stuff from male cattle at the bottom of it.

Froome and Contador are probably the worst for this, but it's true for almost all of them.

Contador talks bollox all the time, mumbo jumbo !. Froome says it the way it is but he is not going to say he will demolish his rivals in TT out of respect.

If Froome wins la vuelta with no other stage win he will have only 3 victories in the season , his low since 2012

Amount of stage wins is irrelevant compared to Tour/Vuelta double.

Would be nice !. He could do it if he wanted to but.......

The gaps seemed less big than expected but impressive ride by CF, don't forget the first part of his TT was relatively slow, he controled his pace well. Without earphones, nobody could be under the minute, at least.

Yes. Near the first intermediate he was around 10s behind nibali and 20s behind kelderman.
He puts a great effort in the second half of the ITT
