53 pages for a guy that has one top 10 in a GC on his palmares. Kuddo's to the current generation of talented young Belgian riders (I'm jealous as a Dutchman), but the Belgian bias on this forum is starting to get a bit too much.
There's another Belgian rider that I was expecting to have had at least 3 more GT wins on his palmares. I'm still waiting to be convinced he's a serious GT contender. (This post is not intended to goad his fans. Just my opinion)

When did you put this expectation on him? This would mean 4 GT wins at the age of 23, with an almost career ending injury happening too.

Perhaps there are just too many Belgians on this forum? He is one of the most talented youngsters in the peloton and getting a top 10 GC spot in your first GT at the age of 20 is pretty impressive I would say. Even without a Belgian bias that is rather obvious.

You guys are seriously still discussing the transfer, as if we are in the midst of it? I remember that some people couldn't even cope during the transfer, to read about it.

As for Cian i would say Giro is on where we will see on how switching teams affected him. A finish in top 10 would be good. If he would perform much poorly than that, then the switch arguably didn't went as envisioned. A top 5 would be marvellous.

As for the money, likely agent got more. That much is true.

I think the worst posters on here are the Fluðnskruxtz. They always get too emotionally invested in their riders, can't take a joke, make ad hominem attacks, derail most debates they get involved in, and their houses stink of Hello Kitty cat litter glitter.

I haven't been on the forum for too long but I can't recall people chatting so much about Carlos Rodriguez, Thymen Arensman, Felix Gall or even a rider like Juan Ayuso (who has a way bigger palmares already). Nobody argues his promise and potential, but it's being overhyped a bit imo.

There were about 6 pages of discussion about Cian before his disputed transfer to Visma happened in december 2023.

Had that transfer not happened and had he stayed at Bora without any noise about a possible transfer we wouldn't even be at 10 pages at the moment I think which is way less than for example Ayuso.

The main reason there's so much chatting about him is the transfer and the way he's handled everything related to that.

It's not the amount of belgians, it's that they generally lack a self-restraining behavior. Very easy to trigger, very slow to calm down, so you get inflated threads about trifles .

The inflated thread phenomenon wouldn't happen if he was not Belgian.

On a second thought, maybe the subject matter happened - breaking a contract - because he's Belgian.

With last years performance from the Vuelta a Top 5 in this years Giro should be the minimum goal.

So this topic went from a few Belgian posters defending everything certain Belgian riders do (yes there are also Belgians that don't agree with them at all) to borderline racist remarks about Belgians in general.

Yeah great change.
Ergo.

Who brought up biology? I doubt the Belgian "race" is distinguishable from the Dutch "race".
Look we can discuss about the definition of racism, you know exactly what I mean. I actually agree with you, I don't think "racism" is the best term to describe it (but I don't which one is), but you can't deny that certain comments here about Belgians in general are just... well wrong?

Say things about Logic or other Remco and Uijtdebroecks fanboys (As a Belgian myself I've had my fair share of discussions with them about it) all you want, but if this thread is just gonna turn into hating on everything that's Belgian it isn't any better than it was.

Nah let's be real, he was 8th at the Vuelta, the Belgium of GTs. His goal should simply be to repeat that kind of performance at a tougher race, confirming that he has the endurance and consistency over three weeks and that he's not going to be a flash in the pan. Whether that means a top 5 or a top 15 is almost immaterial. He's still 21, he doesn't need to skip any steps

The kind of progression you're asking for here would mean he'd be either a GT winner or a washed-up failure at 23, and that ain't healthy

Did you check the startlists of last year Vuelta and this year Giro?

You can call it bigotry.

I can't comment on whether logic deserve a ban or not since I didn't see the posts, but it's quite funny to see somebody who was so reluctant to post for months in fear of getting banned again, descend so quickly into their previous habits.

Constantly derailing discussions into pedantic arguments over small points that really nobody cares about, and being unnecessarily confrontational and aggressive. Forcing people to skip pages of a thread they are reading through at a time because of the endlessly repetitive argumental tactics. It's so boring.

We all come here to have fun and joke around, to enjoy discussing the sport we love, to read different perspectives, i doubt it's a serious pastime for any of us. I never enjoyed threads where logic was posting.

We all follow certain riders and want them to succeed, we all have certain biases (apart from me, as the forum's objective poster).

But constantly claiming riders as superior, and looking to their achievements as a way to show yourself as superior, for being a fan of a 'more successful' rider, as if their achievements are yours, is a trait that logic and some others have and it's getting really annoying. It's like being the worst kind of football fan.

Having said all this, I would never want to see people banned because their viewspoints on cycling are different to my own.
