I hope he recovers, but it's strange that a two-year problem is solved by the seat.

Yes. That's indeed strange. But what's even stranger is the déjà-vu here, i.e. the rider had already said things had been solved back in January regarding his back pain

According to La Derniere Heure, Visma/Uijtdebroeks found a solution for his back problems that resulted in him not being able to push harder. They basically just raised his seat so that there's less pressure on his lower back where a lot of nerves are. He'll be racing again in Tour de Suisse.

Already racing again in France this week as originally planned.

maybe, but the article says he is also skipping Doubs/Jura/Doubs this weekend, which he is on the provisional start list for (on PCS)
looks like that information was incorrect. He is back to racing this weekend already.

If the fraud continues stealing for a living, the team should unilaterally break the contract with him and cut him out.

He did nothing.

Just like Froome, he steals wage after wage and offers nothing in return.

Doesn't look like it.
TDS is indeed cancelled, Plugge said they are very happy to give him the time needed.

Good to see you would like to throw injured riders on the street if they aren’t able to perform.

If the rider doesn't respect a contract, why should the team respect it?

First of all he’s Belgian, he can always break the contract legally. Has nothing to do with respect.

Secondly, he didn’t feel properly supported at Bora and felt bullied at times. Reasons enough to leave.

Thirdly, Plugge already said they understand his situation and want to give him time because he’s injured.

You are really the only one that thinks he should be dropped to the curb of the street when injured. Classy.

No, he was smart enough to keep himself as a person outside of it. His manager, and the teams arranged everything.

Also may I remind you that Roglic didn’t honour is contract and left Visma.
Rogla bought himself out, he didn't unilaterally terminate the contract.

Only several weeks after the fraud had pissed on the contract and lit it on fire. There was no going back from that, no honour.
Again, he has that right in Belgium. And if you don’t feel welcome in a team why would you stay.

This is where the equivalence between office jobs and pro athlete contract makes no sense whatsoever.

Welcome => getting paid for doing nothing?
Bora didn't pay him for doing nothing...

I think we can all agree that this transfer has been a massive fail. Lots of angry Bora fans but they don't really miss him, and Visma have a rider who so far has brought them nothing at all. But how this panned out doesn't seem to be anybody's fault in particular. It's not like Uijtdebroeks doesn't want to deliver.

I doubt there would be this much attention for his poor performance if he had not forced his way out of the team in the way that he did.

He's not even garbage at Visma per se. He's still totally capable of a top 10 finish in GC in any stage race he enters. It's just there's a lot of adjacent drama, i.e. like his constant complaints about health problems & "fixes" (like the saddle height) which didn't really do much of anything.

So until proven otherwise, at face value he simply hasn't stepped up a level at Visma. That is all.
