GVA has got to be very ****ed with gilbert:D
why? without him Barredo would have won (since no vanendert working then)

Van Avermaet was not good enough to win today

hoping, but doubting, valverde can mix it up. Not even he was this impressive.

Sagan to make a dramtic improvement next season ?

we can only hope for one of those 2. and maybe contador riding the ardennes next year.

I've always prefered the cobbles to the hily classics, but the gilbert factor makes this even more so.

GVA missed another chance at a classics victory:(. He still has some oppurtunities in the autumn. He can win some GT stages at the vuelta since there wont be evans.

well the cancellara effect wasn't exactly turning the cobbles exciting.

maybe next season every1 does to gilbert what they did to cancellara this season. . . tho i don't see a guy like contador, andy, valverde and evans riding as if he wasn't the strongest rider. so i don't think it will happen

I wonder whether Valverde could stop Gilbert's classic domination?
Next year, I hope we´ll see Valverde and Evans in the classics again. Those guys are the only ones who can threaten Gilbert right now.

Barredo very strong. Probably he would be closer to Gilbert if he didn't attack.
He would have been second as well...

Sagan is as good as you're likely to get that age. Gilbert reads races so well and has improved so much in the last couple of years. Reminds me of Armstrong the way he started to kill everybody.

No, Gilbert is twice as good now in the classics than Valverde was in his best years, we don't even know at what level Valverde will return, but unless he'll make a Scarponi-like improvement during his ban, he won't end Gilbert's domination, well, maybe he can beat him once in every ten classics or so.

The only one in the world that would have been able to chase to gilbert would have been cancellara.

No. In this situation Cancellara going to cry for Vanendert why he doesn't help to chase down his teammate.

You couldnt really blame canc for acting that way in PR where he had to do all the work while the others who were dangerous were just wheelsucking.

He would have been second anyway, but in his own words, he's been first among mortals :D
