I find myself looking forward more to races Gilbert isn't starting now.

Except ones that are likely to be sprints. Then it's great fun to have him around trying to ruin things for them.

You couldnt really blame canc for acting that way in PR where he had to do all the work while the others who were dangerous were just wheelsucking.

I can blame him. He cried for Thor, but he knowed that Vansummeren is ahead. It's like in the Tour the peloton is splitting, the two Schlecks are ahead, Contador and he is in the second group, and he helps Contador to catch again. It is what never going to happen but he still expected that from Thor.

(Yeah I know that there was Flecha too, but I think he was already happy with the fact that he was in the same group as Cancellara.)

Phil getting reeled in by Cav in stage 5 at the Tour has made him mad lol.
He's going to own these races for the foreseeable future by the looks of things

You've to wait nine days to see Phil again (Eneco Tour). Starts with a prologue so he might not win (!!!)

Yep, his dominance is beyond funny now :p.

I feel sorry for Barredo, being the strongest of the rest besides Phil. :(

Then please explain to me why vanmarcke was doing massive amounts of work.

Barredo is all grinta (as evidenced in the wheel fight last year) so I think he's full of adrenaline after a race like that. A bit like Evans, who's learned to curb it a little bit.

Urgh that hat on Gilberts head, it only makes up for one thing up and that is that it hides his bleached hair.. :)

No anger at all in Barredo's words. In fact he was joking saying that he was first among mortals.

Barredo was herculean today. He knows he had the measure of the field, he worked himself silly to split the field, got into a number of attacks and stretched the group out. He knows there is simply nothing more he could do to win this race. He's a bit frustrated because no matter what he did, he wasn't going to get away from Gilbert. He's Christian Klien being chased down by Allan McNish at Road Atlanta... you've rode the perfect race, you've got your tactics spot on, you've eliminated everybody you can, you're in the lead, AND YOU CAN SEE HIM CLOSING IN AND YOU CAN'T DO A THING ABOUT IT.

You mean PR? If I am good, than he was in the same group with Thor and Fabian. Hushovd was the leader, he was going to win that race. Imagine the situation, first you are with Cancellara, your teammate is ahead. You start to help to Fabian, and when you are enough close to Vansummeren and you are leading and Cancellara attacks from behind than you never catch him again because its surprising, and you already tired of chasing down your teammate, and he going to win the race. On the second situation you are with other riders, including one of your helper and Canc etc. You know that you are faster than Fabian, and in this situation you have a very good chance to win the race if you catch Vansummeren. And no need to get yourself tired, and also you can watch Cancellara.

Enough?

Pretty impressive ride by Barredo indeed.

I find it hilarious that people still don't understand thor's tactics or call him a wheel sucker over pr.

Nice analogy. :)

And a very impressive ride by Barredo.

it's got 1 Ardennes race & 1 Gold Race country race & 1 that 's a bit in between (with amongst others, the Hallembaye, an old AGR climb) ... so he's got ample opportunity :D

PS: if not said already ... 28 years after that other great Ardennes champion, Criquielion, Phil nails it again for Belgium!!!!! & with Devenyns, Van Avermaet & Vanendert we've got 4 guys in the top 10!!

If it still would have existed, this would have been Gilbert's 8th World Cup victory, the same amount that Bettini won. Only Zabel (9) and Museeuw (11) won more, but it's not unlikely that in 12 months Gilbert will have passed those as well.
