to me also huge surprise. he is incredibly at everything in colombia except real climbing basically. he was always the guy behind acevedo, sevilla and henao but lately he seems in best shape ever. he was kept out of usa races to prepare for this in colombian races, which is probably better anyway. look also to parra and ortega

yeah but in vuelta colombia la linea 2010 henao was much stronger, only colorado climbed up harder and henao even beat rujano up the climb. then in downhil he softpedaled hoping sevilla would come back but it was suarez who took huge downhil and with colorado who broke his collarbone in that downhil btw, paced up to the finish where henao won the sprint after sitting in their wheels

this was result of that stage, colorado broke collarbone in downhil and rujano sucks in them so they were all together and suarez gapped a number of minutes back to them in one of the most amazing downhils.

henao has gotten considerably worse in climbing in colombia, but that doesn;'t have to be a problem in europe, look at botero who basically sucked in colombia as a climber. by the same token henao has gotten way more allround and experienced and sky should know best what to do with such talent and potential. he's still only 23

I'm presuming that Henao's early season programme with Sky next year will focus on the Spanish stage races and hilly classics (two colombians leading a British squad in the Ardennes classics ) followed by a place on the Vuelta squad to finish off his year. Throwing him straight into the Giro or Tour would seem a bit too much to ask in his first season in Europe.
