In an interview with French tv Alberto said that he is all for zero tolerance and that there is no place in cycling for liars and cheaters. And he also said that he has never done anything against the rules and that his comments about Armstrong were misinterpreted.
When he said he was for zero tolerance, the French commentator pointed out that this anti-doping stance was most likely motivated by the fact that Saxo is no longer Pro tour and dependant on an invitation for the TDF and that an agressive anti-doping position would be required to appeal to ASO.
Contador did say that his earlier comments about Armstrong were misinterpreted, again so he could be seen as an anti-doping kind of guy.
Contador also said that if Armstrong was found guilty of what he did, then he deserved his punishment. On the other hand, he said he had never doped himself despite having been found guilty of such and sanctioned accordingly. I interpret this as "zero tolerance, except for me". Pretty twisted logic.
I am not sure how many he convinced, clearly the journalist doing the interview wasn't, going by his comments added after the interview.
There was a photo of Pepi Martin in the background during part of the interview, and the interviewer pointed out he was Contador's ex-preparer. Didn't leave Contador's "I have never doped" declaration with much credibility.
