Yes he was motivated this year, however 3 years of the saddle and the crash did not help.

AC needed to speak about the team, but you nailed it ,LA was the team and AC got his feelings hurt. Did you hear Popo ***** about LA...yeah, yeah I know he needs a job right? BS

For LA, if you are in his team he takes care of you. If you cross him he will crush you to protect his own.

My point precisely. This is Lance trying to play godfather. Problem is he's no longer the big scary Boss. He's Lance Armstrong. Contador made a comment about him and he tries to hide by his team. He's scared. The best response was NO RESPONSE since Contador admired/respects him as a cyclist. Whether he does as a man, really seems to me irrelevant.

But you go ahead and tell yourself that Contador is anyway worried about Lance. Lance was threatened by Contador and acted accordingly. He's in his head and Lance can't get him out.

we make some damn good bikes though.

Yes, but none of the people who make them had bikes in the Tour this year. In fact, they have never had a bike in the Tour that wasn't badged as something else.

No the team were there before LA made his comeback and won a few races without him. Funny how did he take care of AC, must have missed that was it shown on VS cos Eurosport didn't show it, and I bet AC has learnt his lesson after all that 5+ minute lesson he was taught..

No teammate of Lance's was ever expected to have a podium chance. All this talk about the wildly successful "Bruyneel/Armstrong Plan" and AC's disdain for it is a complete red herring. Slow-down-so-your-mates-can-podium has never been part of that plan. But all of a sudden, in 2009, AC is expected to adopt the new and improved you're-not-quite-in-charge-so-ride-more-easily-for-your-teammates'-chances Bruyneel Plan?

But Lance was into the "Team" thing this year. He wanted to "share" leadership...

Funny, next year will see him lose again. We can only hope that he fails to earn a yellow then too. It really was SWEET that he never pulled yellow on this year. SWEET!!!!

This is proving nothing! It will only leave a bad taste in everybody's mouth and may even hurt Contadors career:(! Contador should have known! Messing with Lance! Lance has a huuuge respect in the peloton and I don't think anybody would side with Contador! He just made the most influental rider in history and Johan his enemy!

The old peloton. The new wave coming through don't give a sh!t. Do you think the Schlecks would rather side with Armstrong?

The respect the peloton may have is for his riding. Contador has said that even he has respect for Armstrong's riding.

Armstrong and The Hog are about to start their own team. The biggest threat to them - Contador. So of course they are going to start talking smack about him. Armstrong knows that his strongest ability is to play the psychological game (basically be a pr!ck), which also happens to be Contador's weakest point.

On the other hand, it could backfire and create an all American team, that is seen to embody the clique view of Americans as arrogant.

Well, what did you expect? Bruyneel owes Armstrong, without LA he would be a nobody. Of course he's going to support Armstrong. He needs a team to run next year, and it won't be Astana. LA can offer him that, AC cannot.

The alliances within Astana had little to do with this Tour. They had everything to do with what team they will be riding for next year. You can go with JB and LA to the new team, go with AC if his new team will have you, or you can stay on Astana with shaky finances and Mr Bloodbags calling the shots. If you aren't Kazakh, you'd better have an exit plan.

Wow, two previous Tour winners on the same team, having a problem. I'm shocked, shocked, to discover that large egos are involved.

That's surprising. I've noticed you mainly enjoy making snide comments, but not really engaging in a discussion.

So if I've misread you, I apologize.

No, you read him right. Pull up his posts.

True, and AC's decision to take a big risk for a dubious payoff says a lot about both his:
-relative immaturity/stupidity/whatever-you-want-to-call-it
AND
-justified confidence in his raw talent
The disconnect between the two will be the story of next July.

No teammate of Lance's was ever expected to have a podium chance. All this talk about the wildly successful "Bruyneel/Armstrong Plan" and AC's disdain for it is a complete red herring. I think this is a very good point. Contador, like every young talent will always have to find the balance between the belief in his talents and the limitations of his talents. JB helped Lance through his period (1999-2001) and they developed a strategy that worked for him (more defensive riding and control of the situation). This is why JB wants the radios. He wants the cool head of the DS controlling the situation and not the instincts of the riders. Less exciting, but predictable outcomes.

I think Levi is going to find that he is just a domestique once again in Lance's eyes.

Next year my friend next year. You get off your bike for 3 yrs, break your collarbone and finish 3rd on the tour. OOOhh I forgot yeap he is juiced...

AC won and that is not in debate, but I would not bet against the TEXAN and his USA team.

Wasn't that part of the reason he left USPS back in the day, but I guess it bookends his career nicely :D

Yea, I am pretty sure that even if Levi and Kloden (who looks like he may retire) are on the Radio Mobile Home team, there will be no talk of there being 3 leaders for the Tour. Next year they will just be Lance's little helpers. And don't think he won't leave them home if they are not riding up to par.

That's if Radioshack get invited to the race in the first place.

I know. LA is such a master manipulator, he led Levi to believe he was a co-leader for the TDF. Of course, that talk stopped soon after the race started as there were only two leaders (in everyone else's mind, in LA's mind he was the leader).

Sadly, I think Levi could have a Vuelta or Giro win in his future. But it won't happen riding for LA.

How about winning some monuments for a start?

That's priceless! :D

That's like saying you wouldn't go out with Megan Fox because she has a pimple.

But, then again, she hasn't won any monuments either.

(Although she has a couple, last I looked).
