Do you have any evidence that Cookson has done anything good for the sport?

But at least we know what happened if Froome is mysteriously injuried for a long period of time

No one thinks the sanction of Menchov is a bad thing. Its was the secretive manner in which is was done as because Cookson had the backing of the Russian board member (Makarov) for the election & it is starting to stink. Secret dossiers and the like which no one ever saw.

Fat Pat was a lot of things but he never shied away from the media or making tough announcements vis a vie Armstrong/Contador. Sure he tried to preserve them as long as possible but he faced the music when he had to.

And the reason it comes back to Froome was the oddly manner in which Cookson dealt with the TUE. Again in secret but when found out he leapt to the defense of the rider and team.

Cookson is a big concern. To be honest I'm not sure he's up to the task of President.

Maybe Pat was right? Don't mess with the Russians?

Pat McQuaid has hit out at Igor Makarov, claiming that the Russian is working against him in the UCI Presidential election due to Katusha’s previous difficulties in obtaining a WorldTour licence for 2013. The Russian team struggled to make the WorldTour grade this year, needing a last-minute CAS ruling in their favour to confirm their participation.

Makarov is the President of the Federation of Cycling Sport in Russia and sits on the UCI’s management committee.

“He has played a role. Unfortunately he’s taken the view, wrongly, that I had an influence in the decision over the licence commission last year. He’s taken the view that he would prefer if I wasn’t president, as a result of that,” McQuaid said Wednesday. “So he is working against me. He’s done several things and he’s certainly not working for me. I hope his influence doesn’t swing the result.”

As the hours counted down to the presidential election vote on Friday, Makarov told Cyclingnews and two other media in Florence that it is time for change at the UCI, repeating his endorsement of Brian Cookson.

"We're in the 21st century, and McQuaid and Verbruggen are part of the past. We've got look to the future,' he said in a rare interview.

"We don't like the changes that have been going on at the UCI lately. That's why we need a new person. Brian Cookson has proved that he can be the head of international cycling by raising the level of British cycling very high. We've got to look to the future."

hoggy...indeed it is good

I guess you're going to miss fat pats rambling statements

of course we have concerns but sometimes away from the forum in 'the real world' one must be realistic change takes time...I'm still optimistic that things are moving forward for the better even if somewhat more slowly than we might wish

"Realistic change takes time?"

What does that mean. I prefer to see how a leader reacts and behaves in adversity. Here we have a situation of a rider who requires to be sanctioned due to the bio passport.

Then announce it, explain why he was found to be guilty and the suspension that fits. Nothing too hard about that. In fact it helps he fans/the public understand the passport process. It's a good thing to announce such matters as it shows the system is working and how it works.

This has nothing to do with "change" or "waiting for change". It's straight up simple. It's the cloak & dagger, secretive manner in which the UCI operates what makes everyone suspicious. Along with the BS about the passport being the end of doping.

How much time is this change supposed to take? a decade? Its been almost a year, and nothing has happened. If anything, things have gotten worse.

the thing is, whatever the job you're doing or the branch you work in, if you do similarly bad as your predecessor who got his *** criticized all over the place, then in reality you are doing much worse than your predecessor, as you've been neglecting the unique chance to learn from your predecessor's mistakes.

so Cookson sucking similarly hard as Phat means that he's actually worse than Phat.

Cookson's blunders of Froome TUE and Menchov Bio Passport coverup are coming closer to Mcquaid's disasters and Verbruggen's catastrophes:p. I was not expecting anything good or bad from the current regime. However in less than a year this regime is starting to stink:eek::mad:.

McQuaid gave Contador 2 years for 0,000 000 000 05 grams of Clenbuterol.

Cookson gave Froome a free pass to race & win on 40mg daily of Predisnone.

Now that is real comedy!

I feel mostly for the riders that dont have the same opportunity to dope as others. What is a poor turkish guy going to do if he wants to juice up to win a stage race? He has to take the risk with EPO, and hope for the best. But if you are friends with the UCI, you can call in a quick TUE and no one would ever know if not for the leak.

All I want is some fairness, and everyone the same opportunities to dope.

One of your better posts, hoggie! Well said.

Anti-doping efforts appear to be evolving rapidly under Cookson's guidance. 10 years ago you were doping only if you tested positive. In the new era, you are doping only if your positive is published on the UCI website or announced via a press release.

Don't worry doper groupies , if Makarov's puppy was binned i expect your beloved dopers to get the 2nd and final ban soon.

Maybe than you will stop to waste 30,000 posts worth of website storage with your moronic posts.

Like everything you post about cycling is because Cadel, Wiggins and Froome beat your favorite dopers and you are upset.

When did this document first appear online (not when was it first noticed)?

When specifically was Menchov given his ban?

Until the answer to both questions are known, then it's impossible to fairly lay blame at Cookson's door for this mess.

Cookson is being criticised for his handling of it. It lacks transparency and integrity.

But yet you keep coming back even though im sure you have been banned many times already. So you must have a soft spot for us conspiracy theorists?

Maybe even deep down you have a slight fear that your beloved sky arent as clean as you hope? Maybe you should face your fear, instead of running away from it and blaming it on clinic posters.

Cookson is just waiting for the World Cup final to start so he can slip another positive onto the website. Hopefully no one should notice.

Probably hoping the final goes to a shootout so he can get all the names on.

Tried & tested (British) method

Jo Moore (born 1963) served as a British special adviser and press officer ('spin doctor'). She was embroiled in scandal while working as advisor to Stephen Byers, the Transport, Local Government and Regions Secretary.

At 2:55pm BST (9:55am EDT) on 11 September 2001, after both World Trade Center towers had been hit in terrorist attacks, but before either tower had collapsed, Moore sent an email to the press office of her department which read:

It's now a very good day to get out anything we want to bury. Councillors' expenses?
