Martin has undoubtedly been tter of the year no one comes close but I would say its because Canc peaked for cobbles.

I expect Cancellara to bring it here though. Enough to beat Martin. Not by much, just enough.

cannot see anyone but Martin or Cancellara winning it

i am going for

Martin
Cancellara
Grabsch

but third could be anyone of 3 or 4 (millar, wiggins, Porte)

Martin has dominated TT's this year so really has to be favorite

Cancellara knows how to bring his A Game when it counts.

1 - Cancellara
2 - Martin
3 - I will say Wiggins but I hope Phinney :p

Anyone know why Zabriskie wasn't selected for the US? Just totally out of form?

He still hasn't recovered. He chose to stay out of this one.

David Millar podiumed last year, so maybe that's why he's so late to go. I'll however admit his TT'ing hasn't been as good as it was last year.

In all due seriousness, Cancellara will win here. Sure he lost to Froggy Martin in the Tour and the Vuelta, but he already said he can win this. And even last year he was saying he was worried about his form going in, and he had time to just ride it easy towards the finish. So tomorrow, I'm expecting him to raise 5 fingers in the air, as opposed to 4 like last year. This is the World Championships, it's more important than a grand tour win.

Does anyone know how much of the itt course is cobbled?

Some 200 m maybe, on Amalienborg Slotsplads.
There may be some very short stretches otherwise in turns etc., but not more than 5 m at once.

There's just something special about the World Championship ITT. Mano y mano, the rider's battle against the one constant factor, time.
Boardman once said that in a time trial you constantly have to ask yourself "can I keep this speed until the finish line?" If the answer is yes then you're going too slow. If the answer is no then you're doing it right. I think that quote sums it up pretty well.

And this ITT is gonna be great. For once we have a real battle for the gold medal, instead of just watching Cancellara detroying his opponents with more than a minute.

The battle for third will be very interesting as well with a lot of riders potentially taken the bronze medal. Wiggins, Millar, Porte and Grabsch seem to be the most likely, but a lot of good time trialists shouldn't be forgotten like Phinney, Sergent, Larsson, Brajkovic, Malori, Westra etc.

I predict that Castroviejo will surprise and top 7!

Tony Martin.. i followed by
2 Canc
3 Wiggo
4 Porte
5 Millar

Malori could be an outside bet for a top 5 also IMO.

I hope Porte can podium. This will be a clear sign of how he has matured. However the course does suit riders like Cancellara, Martin, Millar and Wiggins. Tuft, Larsson, Phinney Fuglsang and Grabsch might also go well.

That should be the top 10.

It will be exciting.

I think Sergeant is too young ( just came off a Vuelta ), Malori has not gone so well in long ITT's and Westra is pigeonholed as a prologue rider. Larsson, Phinney ( pure class ) and Brajkovic are the only ones who might go so well

Westra isn't a prologue rider. Yes, he won one this year, but longer time trials suit him better. I don't expect him to crack the top-10 though.

Cancellara favourite for me, when he has been close to his season objective he has done well (tirreno adriatico in preparation for MSR, albeit a prologue like tt) while otherwise he's been **** for his standards. Still I don't want to see him win again, domination of any category can be a bit dull.
Porte may crack after doing 2 difficult (for him especially) GTs and how has his recent schedule been, I don't recollect him doing either Vuelta or Tour of Britain.

Latest weather forecast (directly translated, so don't blame me for the bad english :D):

Wednesday, where the men's elite time trial held between the hours. 12:30 and 17:05, it will be cloudy early and most dry weather, but during the afternoon there will be rain and not in large quantities. Temp. will hover around 15 degrees and the wind is light to steady from west and south, from 3 to 7 m / s.

I agree Sergent is a young rider, but he did not ride the Vuelta....
Wouldn't surprise me if he would be in the top10

Sergent is a very promising young rider who might top ten, but looking at his results he seems to do worst at the longer TTs he has done. He is improving all the time so it might not matter.

If the weather forcast is correct that it starts of dry and then there is some rain we might have a Clara Hughes repeat, or even better for him.

Well, I can't really find a result from him in a really long ITT, He did a 30+ km in Austria and finished second there...

About the weather: http://www.dmi.dk/dmi/index/danmark/byvejr_danmark.htm?by=1000

Should be dry all the time, but as nothing is as unpredictable as the weather, the late starters could have a little shower
