no break after an hour, interesting.
Quite often happens in strong events in the women's calendar, too dangerous people try to go, the pace is set high to stop them going, and that then becomes too high a pace for some of those who'd want to go in the break of the day. Could well become a war of attrition.

To tell the truth, I'm one of the most vocal supporters of women's cycling on the board, and it's great to be able to see races in full for once. But this is not a very good advert for women's cycling nor cycling as a whole. Especially when we consider that women's races are often more aggressively-raced than their men's equivalents.

Which is why I fear for tomorrow...

NOTHING has happened.

Teams like the USA and Australia... do they really think their best option is the bunch sprint, and let the Italians and Dutch boss it for them? They might think the best option is the bunch sprint, but they need to actually make the Dutch, Italians and Germans work to control it, so that they won't be full strength at the finish. Otherwise this is just a televised training ride.

I complain about the lack of coverage for women's cycling all year long, but the women really aren't helping me here by putting on a real stinker of a "show" on the one occasion the world's eyes are on them. Bob Stapleton must be purring at the beautiful display of cycling how he wants it.

Half the race done and absolutely nothing has happened.
Not exactly a great promotion for women's cycling.

Bound to kick off soon.

This is possibly the worst race of all time. The spectators should be booing and the commissaires should be threatening to call it off.

The teams of the really big sprinters have half an excuse, but the USA, South Africa and France among many others have none whatsoever. Utterly useless.

Completely point-missing remarks from the Eurosport commentary. Sponsorship and spectator levels in women's cycling will increase if people see a better product. This is abysmal.

Emma Trott makes Barbara Windsor sound like a member of the Royal Family.
Talk about common. :)

We wait all year for top drawer presentation of women's racing, and then they serve up an awful parcours with some even worse racing.

The women are capable of so much better. I expect better. No, better, I demand better. This is depressing and gives easy fuel to the detractors.

If this was the first women's race I saw, I'd probably be a detractor myself. I certainly wouldn't be much of a fan.
