Hospitals must now clarify if patients with the virus came to the hospital due to symptoms of COVID or because of some other ailment. Sometimes as high as 50% differences in patients being treated for covid versus patients being treated for other ailments and also testing positive.

Well this one predates Omicron and they have only found a small amount of cases so far. It seems to be much less infectious than Delta and Omicron thankfully.

The vax is not doing what we were initially lead that it would. But I have to say if it makes the symptoms more bearable then its worth it. I just don't understand now since they know its not doing much if anything to stop the spread why it has to be mandated.

Re Omicron vs delta in ICU, in NSW Australia, 74% of ICU patients since December 16 had the Delta variant. Omicron cases are exploding, ICU admissions are rising but very slowly. NSW now has 1204 people hospitalized with Covid-19 which is still 62 cases shy of the record set on September 21 when the state was in the grips of Delta. NSW is the largest state in Australia.

It is quite nerve racking what could happen over the coming days. But we won't have long to find out. I remain optimistic.

Next year I will run the 2nd Cocodono. I helped out this year , with aid and pacing. After Moab I was beat up. I expect not to see a mask within miles of these places and so happy to be a part of it. Covid can take a back seat to exercise and determination.

Who the F cares what your VO2 is?

I've been saying since summer that this was going to be a rough winter for the unvaccinated. People advocating against vaccination publicly are complicit in many deaths and are evil SOBs. If that offends your fragile sensibilities, idfc.

That is a sad stance in my opinion. I am sorry you feel that way. People still have the liberty to chose and its disappointing you can't understand that. Don't be evil against your fellow man. Its against the human nature.
I work on my Vo2 to be better in a fight against any respiratory illness especially considering I have asthma. Sorry you do not want to compare and only want to espouse evil feelings and vibes here.

I was reading on the Oz ABC (abc.net.au) that unlike the UK - Oz RATs don't get added to the numbers tally. In the UK it's apparently very easy to upload the results - whether + or - which, the article said, gives a better indication for statistics.

Also - in Japan - if you want to pay for a test thru a private clinic those results don't get added to the numbers either. Many people have done this due to the difficulty in getting tested in general.
Speaking of which - numbers in Tokyo hit 150 yesterday, that's 50% higher than the previous day. Still very low - but - yeh, with our testing protocols the numbers are likely a lot higher as in other places. The New Year holiday is partly over - many people went back to work this week, but others are still away until next week. So we'll see what happens after that.

I received a PCR test via both throat and nose. Last Wednesday was my 3rd or 4th Covid test since this began. All were done the same way (both throat and nose swabs). But I am still waiting for my last result

Makes sense as most people are not getting serious lung issues with Omicron. It seems that with a smaller viral load than the other variants it has a harder time reaching the lungs.
