Nobody is saying that either Wiggins or Evans would turn their nose up at a GC win here. The Dauphine was one of the biggest wins of Wiggins career, arguably second only to Paris-Nice. Evans would, of course, like to add yet another stage race win to his palmares.
There's quite a jump from that to thinking that either of them would be "desperate" for a few days in yellow here, though. Or that either of them would do something that they thought might jeopardise their Tour chances here. Evans, for instance, as a good descender isn't any more likely to crash out front than he would be stuck in the peloton where a significant proportion of the riders can't descend half as well.
