They withdraw, just like anyone else who quits the race.

To be clear, your (just) is not correct - they're excluded from the full race.

Ah, I see, just like being called onto the bus then.

How is the 25% amount calculated, and is that figure deemed generally fair, or do sprinters grumble at it?

EBH 2nd at the 40 km, 35 seconds behind. That means he has already caught and passed 5 riders, as far as I can tell. Surprisingly good ride by him considering his complete lack of TT training.

Makes me wonder what that kid could do on a TT bike if he actually, you know, trained on it.

EBH coming up to 40km, maybe he will take time back on Durbridge.

Not quite, but only lost 21 seconds, vs 30 for Grabsch who must have been the next best performer between 18k and 40k.

To be honest, I didn't know whether to expect something solid, or something pretty poor, given the awkward circumstances.

But if Andy Schleck's name was on that time the mockery would have started already.

Had Andy Schleck had the crash Sanchez did, no way.

Look at Evans 2010 Tour tt to see how much injury can effect a time trial.

There are more guys like that. Thomas De Gendt doesn't even do a warmup before a TT. For some guys that just works, maybe if they spend more time on their TT bikes they'll actually do worse.

Plenty of fit weekend riders could make 25%.

The more testing limits are on mountain stages - typically 15% on the toughest stages. Latitude is given when large groups all fail.

But the Telegraaf guy was actually following him on a moto. Whom do you trust, some guy at the finish line, or a guy who is watching it with his own eyes?

Ray Kerckhoffs is a moron, but I assume he can get at least this right.

letour.fr's version makes more sense considering how much Andy lost between checks 1 and 2.

I wonder each and every day what that kid could do if he didn't ride for the sh*t team people call Sky.

I doubt that. EBH already has a close to perfect position though, so that carries him a long way. But surely the muscles would benefit from being more used to the position.

However, there's no doubt that training a lot of TT can result in a decline in other abilities.

Has to be asked. With 100km oh ITT in the Tour why would Andy bother showing up on start line?

Horner and Kloden need to sit him down and have a chat.
The same Horner that lost 3 minutes to Zabriskie in California? Or the same Kloden that has 45 CQ points this year?
I don't know, just go with Andy, he'll pull something out of the bag :D
