Critérium du Dauphiné 2012 stage 5. Saint-Trivier-sur-Moignans - Rumilly (186 km)

tommy v is awful short with the bookies considering how short the run in is, its anyones stage if they make it over the climb, and even with the downhill after you could get dropped in end of climb and tag back on.

A WT-race with a reconnaissance stage in it for another WT race and we get live coverage about this training day. That's something new.
If ASO just started a few polls here about how they should design the stages in a race like this you would get a much better course.

as you see,the gaps are already huge.that would mean just one thing, lots of this guys will attack on grand colombier,no time to wait for joux-plane.put pressure on uk postal and try go for a stage win.
i think the itt would make for a great finale of this dauphine.

let's see how sky will control this, probably they will do it easily though

Taaramäe will do nothing today, he has nothing in his legs. He will just try to stay with the main group as long as he can to get into some sort of form for the TdF

Evans FTW! )

It's possible, never thought of that. Was thinking LLS or Voeckler.

There could be some action, a chase at least if some of the GC riders can Gap Wiggins on the Colombiere. It has been done.

Looking at the GC it seems almost impossible to beat Wiggins. And maybe it´s better for other teams not to drop Wiggins today, cos then in the Tour and the remaining weekend stages Sky might hesitate wheter to take the race under their control, or not. Instead, they´ll force other teams to work. Sky will only ride in front when they think Wiggins can win le Tour, ie he´s capable of following the attacks of other contenders here. Other favourites will gladly let Sky ride in front. Still I´m hoping for some unexpected action from riders who are now at place 10 to 30th in GC, they can turn the race around.

The rainy conditions and the numerous attacks have made the first hour very fast: 48.3 kilometres have been covered.

Negativity on here is epic.
We're all going to die ... eventually. :(

12 riders in the lead at km 49 but Team Sky is active at the command of the bunch. The gap is only 6 seconds.

I knew it UK postal won't let the break go easily:p

So, don't challenge Wiggins, in order that the remaining stages of this race and the entire Tour can be a Sky-led procession? If noone attacks then Sky can just sit on the front and not work. If attacks go then they have to work to bring them back, which affects their resources for the next day.

Can't believe it's got to the point where it's "Wiggins is too strong, he'll win this and the Tour, don't even try", he's super strong until he cracks, and then he isn't.

I really don't get why Sky ride so hard. I guess they're preparing their domestiques for the Tour, but they could also be tiring them out.

They are just very cautious with the breaks, I don't know why.
Yeah at this rate, no early break will succeed in le tour.
