I think Froome

A/ Underestimates Contador
B/ Overestimates himself
C/ Is not very self intuitive nor does he have a good bike race sense. Why didn't he follow AC with less than 2km left? Think the train will do it for you? Its worked before, yes but train works from the distance, it needs time to reel in the lost cargo. At 1.7km, you should shoot off yourself.

But he has beaten Bertie on so many occasions its hard not to say to yourself, he won't get far....wrong this time

From what we saw today it is clear that Talansky will be AC biggest rival come July

Nah. Definitely Westra. He would not be denied today. Really a great ride from him the last 2 days.

If Froome had played it smarter on stage 2, he would probably still be in the lead...

What nonsense. He just wasnt strong enough to respond because of his crash yesterday which obviosly took the edge off him. He clearly wasnt at his best, he couldnt even drop Hesjadel in the last km

actually i think the injuries might be the cause. to me it was obvious that froome will be dropped today when he was almost losing the wheels of nieve and richie way way before the final 3 kms.

contador definitey should expect a way stronger chris for le tour.

how contador is strong , come on , from where he's bring all that power , really he's come back .i think froome is make big mistake when he was hung behind porte wheels when contador start attack . now maybe when can say welcome tour de france .. contador is ready and from in perfect shape .so astana rider is wstrra he doing good jop in last 2 days .

He might be already on the limit. B/c he likes to ride by keep constantly monitoring his power meter, who knows. Contador beats Froome fair and square today. Please I don't want to hear about Froome is hurt, bla, bla, bla. Fact is today was a real battle that we have been wanting to see since last year. When the el pistolero dishes his salsa dancing on his pedals, not even a turbo charge alien moppet can't follow his move :D. I got to say.. what a beautiful dance move ;)

Froome and contador's face say it all. They gave it all. Contador just delivered his promise all year all: he will give Froome the run for his money. July is lookin' like christmas :D

Froome cannot attack or respond until Richie is still in front of him. That's how he is programmed.

What did Froome do wrong on stage 2?
He reeled in the attacks of inferior riders (I.E. Kelderman), but he also had to do that. He attacked AC with all the power he had.
To be honest, it was all thanks to Porte having an off-day, that Froome had to close those gaps all by himself.

So Sky had like 4 men left when every other dom was dropped? Or 3? Can't recall exactly when was Fugslang dropped, but it was something like that.
Ridiculous how strong they were. But what a statement by Contador! And even Nibali almost managed to catch Froome by the end, I guess Froome blew his engine a bit at last km.
Oh and what an epic awesome win by Westra!!!!!!!!

Not saying Froome wasn't suffering from the injury, but Hesjedal rode the whole climb at a low tempo, and not at Sky train's tempo. He was clearly waiting for Talansky.

How do you work that out? It was clear he wasn't strong enough to go with Contador.
The acceleration didnt seem big because Contador was using a huge gear...no one could have followed that acceleration..he opened up a 20 sec gap really fast and gauged his effort perfectly to the line while froome cracked in the last km

Great performance by Westra today, clawing himself back to the Katusha duo for the stage win. Sheer determination. Chapeau.

GC wise is was all rather dull with Contador sprinting with 2km to go.

Anyway its all to play for tomorrow.

I think he was saying Froome didn't ride smartly and went all out too early in the race.

Cause he didn't have the legs. Really, it's that simple.

Aside from that, really happy with Bardet performance. He'll be a top5 climber at the Tour.

Froome couldn't put any time into him, when he was fit.
We can only speculate as to what extent, if any, the crash effected him.
The smart money was on Bertie before the race, regardless of all the hullabaloo surrounding Sky's leader.
The blank firing El Pistolero of last year, is in the past.
Bertie's firing real bullets again, this year.

Great win for Westra, after yesterday's bitter pill, he hands one out himself to Katusha.
