Gaudu is just so bad here, he lost almost a minute on Alaphilippe.

Not good. I know some people are downplaying this (in France) with talk of "he'll be better next month", but I don't know. It seems like there's something wrong going on with his form since April.
Most people are making the mistake you gotta be ready for week 3. This years TDF is different. You need to be ready from day 1.

A lot of people are gonna make mistakes in their bets ;)

You're not gonna lose minutes in the first 2 days. But yes, the Pyrenees come early, but in general you can't be minutes off the pace on day 1 of the TdF. Any swings in form aren't gonna be by minutes on a unipuerto stage.

O'Connor does not have the level for the hardest GT mountain stages which riders like Mas, Hindley , Carapaz etc do have.
I think he does , 4th in 2021
But TT is poor

Carapaz being out of the top 10 at 1-week races is the norm

I am not just talking about 1 week races....he looks like he can put in a half hearted attack on steep stages and then fades ...something is very different

He was injured in more than one fall
He had to retire after trying to ride on fro several days

jasus have you not seen The Tour De France Unchaine even

Do you guys not watch anything !!!!
I know that he crashed. But he also lost 1 minute in the opening time trial, whereas at the Dauphiné he had a strong ITT. So yeah, I watched the race and I don't think he was as strong as at the Dauphiné regardless of any crashes.

Today but not necessarily 5th best over all

Hindley, O Connor , Gaudu and Mas will get better
Hindley is a slow starter and better as a GTs go on

These are the guys fighting fro 3rd in the Tour

I cant see anyone from INEOS on the podium
I wasn't talking about GTs. Specifically mentioned 1 week stage races. I don't think he's anywhere close to being the 5th best GT racer in the world.

Vingegaard looks ready for the Tour start
He does, and you can also see what they're still going to work on in the next few weeks. The initial acceleration is great, probably Pogi level, but then he struggles a bit (relatively speaking of course, he's still by far the best in this field).

I think he is where he wants to be: good, really good even, but not at his very best.

In post-race interview Vingo said he's not quite peaking yet, he has more fine-tuning to do. So yeah, we should plan on seeing more from Vingo at the Tour.
