Yeah, it is sad to see such a great rider like Landa having to do this. He could podium this race and now having to sacrifice himself instead, for what? Sad day for Landa and cycling fans :(
Of course is for something, Remco is still second on GC. Landa was signed to help him and he is here and at le Tour to sacrifice his options, and at la Vuelta to look a good GC.

But Dauohine is not le Tour and a kind of rider as Landa move by instinct, inspiration, and you shoulnt cut its wings when he feel inspired...Thay have 2 card to play and now thay have one . Landa is very good for an stage as tomorrow. Maybe he is not so super as I thoughafter the ITT, but he is well.

Depends, if Remco actually improves during the race and looses some weight before the Tour things might change.

But don't stop him on the Galibier to help Remco if the later is dropped already hard on stage 4 and Landa is doing well
Remco should ride Tour for stages and maybe get the yellow jersey on the opening weekend. Probably will lose it come stage 4 or some time later.

Use the Tour as prep for Olympics, which should be his biggest goal with worlds.

It's clear Remco has to specifically work on his climbing weight: his 'natural' weight is probably 3-4kgs higher than his optimal climbing weight. He just hasn't got the body structure of a lean climber. He can climb, for sure, but he has to work hard to climb well. 2 weeks without a bike isn't doing any good for achieving that climbing weight. Naturally with racing and good training, he can shed 1-2 kg by the 1st of july, but he'll have to keep an eye on it.
1 to 2 kg? What for? To fight for a top 10? He'll need to get rid of a lot more than that, but time is up, and that's not happening.

I know plenty of people, myself included, who can maintain weight without riding a bike for 2 weeks.
These top pros are eating a diet that can't really be turned up and down that easy from what I have read. When I travel often I have choice between not eating or eating something not great that's available. Don't know what Remco is generating but his watts to kilo ratio is still pretty good and the winter\ spring ramp up in volume had to collapse because of his crash and related injuries. After the close call in massive crash, Remco is not looking bad, looks to have good form despite being a little plump. 3 weeks away still.. Remco was surprisingly human in the time trial and the excellent time turned in by Roglic has to be a concern.. Don't think anyone is climbing at the quality and consistency of Pogacar. Visma looks a little scattered.

How is not putting your nose into the wind until the final 30 seconds not a boring way of winning a stage?
Because it wasn’t just a group ride till the last 500 meters. De Plus & Vlasov attack looked like it could somewhere and then peloton fragmented behind. At one there was action to watch at 4 points along the climb: Vlasov pushing on, Roglic in chase group, Remco sheding time in Group 3 (or 4), and watching to see how much blood Grégoire would lose by the finish line ;)

His form is good, his weight is not. I see plenty of pros who don't turn into Chubby Checkers after they crashed and need to stay off the bike a few weeks. It's always the same with him. And there is no way he can lose the weight needed in time to be competitive in the TDF. I had hoped he/they learned their lesson in the Vuelta, but apparently not.

I know we all need to love and support Landa, but it’s strange to bring this up in this race circumstance: not only is the team leadership very clear, in this case his teammate was in the yellow jersey so of course he’s going to stay to help Remco.

Sure his role was clear ..he is paid to support and he did a good job..why he is paid
but given the climbing of the field today its is also true to say that he could have been with the best

Of all the races, this stage seemed the least fitting to wave the Free Landa banner (except in joking but you’re serious). Also if he was “climbing with the best” as you say why wasn’t he pulling time back on Vlasov when he was leading the Remco group?

Congratulions to Roglic for the victory.

Now, the more i see about Roglic and Remco evenepoel in the mountains, very clearly and is so obvious that in the Tour, the fight will be by the same 2 guys.

It will not be a fight between the four. It's just propaganda to hype the race.

Pogacar and Vingegaard are clearly 2/3 levels above Roglic and Remco evenepoel in the mountains. This guys are again climbing in the level of guys like Vlasov, Ciccone, Carlos Rodriguez, Jorgenson.

When we see Vingegaard and Pogacar, they always annihilate this competition with a good gap.
