1 whole chicken boil it in water for 15 minutes. Remove chicken from pot. Set it out to cool, if it's cut in half it is easier but not critical. After chicken is cool enough to remove all meat off the bone, combine half the chicken meat w the stock that was in the pot it was cooked in, add 2 diced potatoes, two stalks of celery, 3 large cut up carrots,2 zucchini or whatever you like heat until it boils. At boil toss in 8 oz of fat pasta, like ziti, penne,I like campanelle.let it go for 2 or 3 minutes, turn off heat and cover. It makes decent soup. With the other half of the chicken you tear it all off the bone and use it in stir fry, or open faced chicken sandwiches w gravy over cuscus or potatoes,or can make pulled chicken w way less fat, and yes a little less taste than baked or fried chicken.
I also do this w 2 chickens at a time and freeze the boneless chicken in containers for recipes later.

I also take the meat and make full size chicken pot pies using store bought crust. You get the two crust pack from the store, put chicken and veg in one crust after you combine it w a jar of gravy, use the other crust as the top, after it can be molded/welded w the bottom crust using your fingers. Put some green peas in your pie.
I have popped them right in the oven or if you make more than one they freeze and cook afterwards really easy. Now that it's 40 outside I have started doing some heat up the house cooking
dogs go crazy for chicken skin so don't throw it out.

I think pasta is absolutely great. Cheap, easy and quick, and with different flavors it can be different every time. If it only takes ~15 minutes to prepare, I don't care if I have to do it every day.

And in my time in Italy, I indeed learned that the best way is the simple way. You guys just add one or two ingredients and off you go, while in the Netherlands you have to absolutely stuff your pizza or pasta with literally everything before it is taken seriously.

I also think pasta tastes great. It's simply not the best food from a nutritional point of view. I try to vary a lot in the carbs department.

As for the stuffing: in my travelling experience, I came to the conclusion that people outside of Italy exaggerates with toppings simply because the pizza or the pasta themselves are not good enough.
In Napoli there are still places where you can order only two pizzas: Marinara (tomato sauce, garlic, origano) and Margherita (mozzarella, tomato sauce and basil). Because the dough is so yummy and fulfilling that you don't need much else. Sure if the dough is bland and the tomato sauce is sour (which happens so many times abroad and I really have no idea why), you need a million ingredients to cover the **** flavour and make it edible.
Same goes for the pasta. Aglio, olio e peperoncino (garlic, oil and chillies) is probably my favorite pasta ever.

Oh and please no Fettuccine Alfredo :D

I've been really sick for about a week. I didn't go north to my brothers. I wanted to feel a little like thanksgiving so I bought a wal-mart roast chicken and talked my roommate through preparing the stuffing and string beans. What you see is what my miserable dog ate. yep walked out on the deck to look at the ocean and boom it was gone without a trace, no meat, no bones, no skin there wasn't even a grease spot. But it was still a great day as I have so much to be thankful for.

Kreisler, you have it all right. Be thankful.enjoy the dog enjoying. Few years back,I got buzzed while cooking, made a call to someone I had not taked to in years. The call went on for 30+ minutes. I came back inside happy and hungry.

I checked the oven and stove top. An entire chicken w mashed and gravy eaten by an oversized Beagle mix. The dog ate the food and then went under the bed. She knew it was wrong but worth it.

I tried to be mad but ordered spicy chicken chow fun from the place down the block. When the dog and I finally made up on the couch her breath still smelled like chicken.

Maybe be a bit rich for me first thing in the AM.... I'd add hefty amount of pickled jalapeños, chopped, to offset the richness

Yeah pretty plain but good. That was while I was sick and needed comfort food. For about a week I only wanted white things without spice. For many years I started the day with a bean and cheese burrito and cup of coffee.

Elapid, that Christmas dinner looks delicious, especially the Pavlova.

This evening I went out to a local restaurant and had one of the best dishes I have eaten in a long time.
jqi5ao.jpg

It was basically a seafood marinara with a napoli sauce.

After just seeing Krebs' delicious Breakfast burrito, I think I should post the breakfast burrito I ate at a Cafe a little while ago.

Has tomato relish, bacon, scrambled eggs, spinach and cheese in it.

EDIT: Have to remove the two photos because they are too big. Will be back up in a couple of minutes.

My new molcajete - made from Mexican baslat lava - before it was cleaned and seasoned. I made several batches of guacamole on NYE, but ... we ate it all without even thinking of a camera. It is a wonderful kitchen tool:
