All about the sponsors (money) RT @friebos Scinto: 'I never wanted Di Luca. He's an idiot. He needs to get help.' via @cirogazzetta

He wants people to concentrate on the cycling and forget danilo's positive for doping.

Well yeah but it's quite funny how he put it:
For the sake of cycling, is it still possible to do today's stage (which was seemingly cancelled?) and cancel the news of Di Luca?

The conclusion.

Di Luca is peloton fodder without the juice.

lol, what a clown.

I could not have summed it up better, all Giro he has been cheered on he is a joke like the dude with Movistar avatar said thank god his attacks failed.

Di Lucca 2009 Giro for CERA? A while after though...well I guess we had Mosquera in the 2010 Vuelta though but I'm not sure he ever got "sentenced" ?

Astarloza in the 2009 Tour. Mosquera didn't get caught for EPO (although he did get sentenced). His teammate Garcia Dapena was caught with EPO in the 2010 Vuelta though.

Di Luca's was an out-of-competition test dated 29 April, prior to the Giro.

The answer to your question however, as Lanark says above, is David Garcia Dapena in the Vuelta on 13 September 2010.

Yeah I knew it was OOC, but it was revealed during a GT. :)

He has been cheered, and they have talked about it on tv about how popular he is. Its sickening. I can deal with those that were part of a team doping program, it doesn't make it right but they had someone over at least taking precaution on their health (to the best of their possibilities). I could believe i did it because everyone else does it.

Di Luca has taken it a step farther. He has tried all programs, linked with Oil for Drugs, positive test for Cera. Which then he cooperated with investigators to get a reduction in suspension and talk about how he was helping to clean up the sport.

He finally signs a contract, rides in races that weekend, with 2 top 10 finishes. Gets anounced he is confirmed to ride in the Giro, his one big goal for the year. Somehow his past (It was his strange values on the biological passport that led to the test in 09 that he was positive), the really late start before his big goal didn't give him an inkling of a clue of "hey, this screams an out of competition test will be coming."

In essence he is the Doping product pin cushion, if its available ill try it. I am willing to give people second chances if they serve their times, but thank god his time is done. I always liked his style as far as single day races, but its time for his name to be forever gone.

The question is, who wanted to get rid of him?

It´s like WWE or pro Wrestling in general. They all do it, and if it´s time for some reason to pull someone out, they pull him out.

If a Serebryakov takes EPO and makes a dosage mistake, and has a test at the wrong time, he gets his punishment. With big stars like Di Luca, it´s different. There, a positive sample which becomes public always has strategical reasons: federations or sponsors/private people want to get rid of him for some time, or maybe, like in his case now, forever.

That´s why Sinkewitz will think twice before returining to a 2nd cat team. He´s on the black list forever, and I think UCi doesn´t want to see him in a team higher than CT any more.

Q: For a suspect rider, should it really have taken nearly a month for Di Luca's test results to come out? Not fair on Giro...

That´s too simple, what Stokes says here. It might be true, might also be wrong. We just won´t know.

Another additional factor to that I wrote above is: also bad news (for the sport; and a doping case is bad news) is good news. So the Di Luca case is on the headlines, and he is a big rider, so even more so.
