Q: For a suspect rider, should it really have taken nearly a month for Di Luca's test results to come out? Not fair on Giro...

AFAIK it was a gazzetta story though so this wiłl likely be a convenient time for the race organiser for it to come out.

When a rider gets caught, his victories and his other good results are given to the riders behind him. But what about the fans? Can I get my 30 minutes of cheering back?

why did you cheer for di luca. or in fact have any expecations at all? that's a general lesson in life

I personally find him worse then Ricco. Ricco was over about 5 years, Di Luca has had links for 10 years, and not just to one person, but to several. His positives always seems to be around the Giro, which is the race where he has made a name for himself on. To think about all the fans cheering for him this year on those late attacks. ITs time for him to be permanently gone

di luca has always been held up by italian media. ricco hasn't

when di luca was last suspended gazzetta(worst newspaper in the world, see also basso) went so far up di luca's a** that they went to a priest for him and he begged the priest for forgiveness and that he refound his ways as he had found god. italian people eat this stuff up. they believe anything acted in front of them (berlusconi)

Exactly. It might be the stuff from the 90ies PLUS newly created stuff. They are not faster than in the 90ies, though, because the human limit without the use of non-gene doping seems to be reached, and gene doping is still not developed enough to really benefit from it. As soon as it is the case, W/kg performances will rise again.

This is the way pro sport goes: getting closer to gene doping, available for majorities of athletes. And not reducing the stuff, and getting the sport clean.

Sadly UCI is hiding something again. They even don't want to specify what kind of EPO Di Luca used. Though, it really can be EPO from 90's, which injected by means of some new technology.

He tested positive three days after signing a contract. This guy is hardcore.

considering he was fat and had trained as badly as last year, difficult times call for dificult meassures. and him using epo meant he was totally out of options as well. epo is the real monster doping of course, but so easily detected.

Scinto gave him a job. Cretino.

no he didn't. scinto was forced by his sponsor to let him aboard, the sponsors boss is a friend of di luca. it was well known in italian media how angry scinto was. di luca was offered no help either during the giro and rode like a one man team. I can't imagine how angry scinto must be now...

I remember back then there was a rumor about 7 or 8 positives in top-10 straight after the Giro. RCS surely preferred to sweep this thing under the carpet otherwise the edition would have had to be cancelled completely.

oh the rumors...

Best bit of Vini Fantini statement: they told Di Luca to make his own way home. Didn't even offer him a lift!

The conclusion.

Di Luca is peloton fodder without the juice.

lol, what a clown.

we already saw that last year. but to his defende. he was never a climber until he found cera in 2005. before that he was a hilly rider and he would've still been, if he had trained harder. the guy is lazier than anything. and also 37

How stupid one can be? On the other hand this shows EPO is still around.

No doping disappeared, apparently

Germans like to go after easy targets (Kittel ----> Sayar)

I'd love to see them talking about some bigger names
This again? Kittel has spoken against Contador and Armstrong. How much bigger than that does it get?

Also, as I pointed out to Zam on Twitter, Greipel was quoting Di Luca's own words and twisting them sarcastically. Context, people.
