To me, Di Luca's positive test taints Vini Fantini's campaign in this Giro big times. None of their results can be taken too serious.

The general consensus seems to be that Di Luca doped independently of the team. I think you have to be pretty stupid to get caught these days.

At least the Killer went out with a BANG.

Product of his era.
Victim of the peloton.
Lets wait for his book.

Luca Scinto is the most laughable here, the Ferretti domestique. What is Daniele Tarsi doing on his team? Dividing vitamine pills?

He has been cheered, and they have talked about it on tv about how popular he is. Its sickening. I can deal with those that were part of a team doping program, it doesn't make it right but they had someone over at least taking precaution on their health (to the best of their possibilities). I could believe i did it because everyone else does it.

I don't know if he is still that popular with the general public. A friend of mine was at the first ITT in the hill to the finish line and told me that Di Luca was booed as the only rider

good thing he is out for good, should open a cafe with Menchov

I find this hilarious but still feel bad for his fans, I know that he had a lot of them on the forum

And he still couldn't keep up with the Sky train.

To be fair on him he hadn't raced all year. He got the call up because he brought Aqua Sapone on as a sub-sponsor.

Di Luca is a very wealthy man. Invested his money wisely.

Don't think you'll get a "tell all".

I've been saying for a while that Vini might have been given carte blanche to animate the race as long as they didn't overdo it (i.e. as long as Santa didn't try to get on the podium, among other things). Even if Scinto didn't want Di Luca, this reeks of team doping.

Yeah, if he did it with the team he would be top 10 now and a stage win in the bag no doubt.

It had to have been the signing of Di Luca being the reason why Acqua Sapone didn't get invited last year. RCS must have been livid to have seen him sign for Vini Fantini just before the Giro and so therefore they were more or less powerless to do anything now.

A shock! I'm so surprised! How did it happen? With his past? Can't believe it!

Don't Wiggins and Evans count as the same era? I would say so.

I'm a fan and I'm very cheerful because Il Killer confirmed his status of fighter and again... the rest are not better.

Putting a doctor like Daniele Tarsi on your pay-roll isn't really exemplary anti-doping policy by Vini Fantini.

Just another doper from the past caught for continued doping. Like most, this doesn't surprise me one bit. Kind of sad actually that it doesn't.
I wonder how long until Santambrogio is caught, as he's the next most obvious after Di Luca.

Don't sell yourself short, you are a SUPERFAN, the best kind of FAN that is good for cycling, and it is a wonderful thing that you are cheerful at this news.

dijk pound was right. failing a doping test is failing an iq test...but what do call failing 4 (!) tests ?

imo it goes beyond the common intelligence or being sloppy or even a drug addiction - it's a form of some psychotic disorder, some mental block or inferiority complex which happens to be indeed inferior talent wise

So despite the positive EPO test does the fact that an underdone rider who is passed his peak could be so much of a protagonist show that the peloton is cleaner? Or is EPO so much of an advantage that he should have been killing everyone despite the lack of racing in his legs and therefore they're all juicing?

Why the heck it takes almost 4 weeks to announce the EPO positive? The test results should be out within 48h!

But again, UCI and the tour organizers doesnt want any negative press before the start of the race so they hide it until the race is decided/over.

I feel sorry for the (probably young) rider who lost his Giro spot to this a-hole.
