Young? Tick
Blonde? Tick
Moderately attractive? Tick

Obviously expecting to get away with it by pleading guilty early.

6 month licence suspension and 50 hours community service, okay I am treating her really harshly here by normal standards !

The bar has been reset. This hits close to home as I know this girl. She's a great kid (for the record, she's going to be ok) and I regularly rode on the same roads when I lived in Perth.

Mad doesn't come close. Thankful she'll be OK. The ultra-bogans should be dragged behind their ute for a few km. Then rolled in salt.

Moron doesn't seem sufficient. But I guess it will have to do.

At the scene, Michele Scarponi's tragic accident.

These are the pics of the scene of Michele Scarponi's tragic accident, along with the van that hit him. I wasn't sure it would be appropriate to start a new thread on something so tragic, so I put this post in here.

Honestly, I have no idea how the van driver did not see Michele, besides maybe playing with the radio or worse, texting while driving or something to that extent. I'm sure we'll hear the final verdict when it's available but I thought I'd post these for everyone to get a better idea of what happened to a beloved father, husband, friend, and pro cyclist while out for a ride one day on his bike.

I found the images here - http://www.ilrestodelcarlino.it/ancona/cronaca/foto/michele-scarponi-morto-1.3055956

It's such a shame that these things continue to happen on roads around the world..

Rest in Peace Michele Scarponi, you'll be sorely missed.

So very shocking and now so very sad.

Michele was such a likeable professional and obviously a real family man. Really feel for his two young boys right now.

The scene seems perfect for visibility, except for maybe that hedge(?)

Thanks for posting, Irondan.

It was a wise discretion not to show the photos that are also on that site of Anna with the body: was she riding with him, or was it just that close that she got there so early?
To be honest, I didn't know if I should have posted any of these photo's, but in the end I think people want to know what happened to Michele. As for the other photo's, I don't believe showing his body laying on the ground adds to the narrative that I wanted to present, nor did I think it was appropriate.

Personally I did not know Michele Scarponi, but I feel deep sorrow for his loss and I hope that his wife and children know that there's people around the world that feel the same way.

I don't know if Anna was riding with him, I would hope that wasn't the case as having this tragedy ingrained in her last memory of her husband is not something I would wish on anyone, on the other hand I hope that Michele got to say goodbye to her before he left... Either way, it's very tragic and I feel terrible for the whole family.

"There is no evidence of remorse. There is a significant amount of self-pity and for your son's predicament," the judge said.

Well, her son is probably better of without a mother like that. Hopefully his grandmother can teach him something about responsibility for your actions.
I doubt it - who do you think taught the mother...
