Sky haven't got the best record when it comes to racing in windy conditions - though Greg Henderson did win a stage of Paris-Nice after an echelon was formed by Caisse d'Epargne.

They seriously need to practice more the formation against crosswind... some ppl from Omega Pharma could teach them...

Robbies result here shows he has good legs on the climb and that will be crucial for him to be up there iin the sprint in melbourne!

And the competition is going to be much better.
And the hills much thougher
The Emmaberg can barely be counted as hill. The steepest part is 7% and that's just for 100m.
The 'climb' in total is 800m or so.

We have 1000 of those in Limburg which are much steeper and they aren't even named because they don't count as hills in our eyes. Compared to actual climbs/hills that is.

I do not know him personally and again you are telling me stuff I already know.
Crashes or not, his results in time trials have been inconsistent over the past 3 years
On a good day he is world class (2nd in Worlds ITT is a proof of that). And on other days he doesn't even break the top 20.

Hence my point, Tuft is inconsistent. And as for me calling him crazy, well a guy who one day decides to leave home and go biking all across Canada and the US, could hardly be called normal. It is not meant offensively. I even admire that kind of behaviour, looking for adventure and going into the world with nothing but your bike (and his dog).

But somehow you react like an idiot and even start babbling about a whole story about the Netherlands.
If anyone here starts attacking someone, it's you, not me.

YOU are the one making this personal. YOU are the one involving whole nations into this.
Start thinking about that. Before you react like this again. Disgusting behaviour.

Standard attempted last word. Slight back-pedal, then go for the ad hominem accusation...for a flourish finish with something about disgusting behaviour or similar.

Who told who to sod off? Right, you. I suppose that's why you've posted something like 2500 times and I've just barely cracked 100.

There is a block function on this thing right? If there isn't I'm certainly not going to make it to 200.

As an objective bystander (at least I'd like to think so) I have to tell you, that I agree that you were the one changing the tone to hostile, sorry. You misinterpreted a post by D_T and reacted accordingly, get over it.

One of mans greatest (but hardest) accomplishments is admitting when he's wrong. Well, you don't need to admit anything, if you don't want to, but please stop going on about it.

Now, let's get back to racing! (and celebrating old farts like Robbie - really happy for him)

That's a massive understatement. They have been awfull in crosswinds. The only time they got it right was during the Giro stage through Holland. Henderson was isolated on that stage but managed to tag onto Caisse. The rest of the team were badly positioned again.

Sky really screwed up yesterday because they now have to put all their eggs into 1 basket with EBH. If they'd paid attention then Thomas could have been a potential second option with the final TT to come.

I'm amazed that a team with Arveson, Hayman and Barry (although he crashed to be fair) can make such a simple mistake of being badly positioned when the crosswinds hit.

Marginal gains???

I'm even more surprised that this happens in races where Steven de Jongh is behind the wheel, from the massive cockup in Qatar onwards. If anyone knows where to be when the crosswinds hit, it's him. Now if only he could communicate this to his riders.

But did you know that Svein Tuft is partly Norwegian, just like Hesjedal? Kinda odd that the two best cyclists from Canada in reality are from norway! :D

Hehe, if you look at it that way then all americans ain't real americans, but europeans, africans or asians.

Anyways wind is looking pretty rough today which is good!

Yeah I hope they manage to get more than just EBH in the front echelon. Really disappointed in Geraint Thomas especially.

Who is going to offer to keep me updated today? :D

Not much to report. Johan Coenen, Vitaliy Buts and Miguel Minguez have six minutes on the peloton. Michael Barry and Matteo Bono have retired.

I never said Robbie was going to win the wrolds but that this bodes well for him going into geelong.

Well I guess if you can't stuff up the leadout you might as well stuff up the actual sprint to the line! Well done EBH!:D

Guessing this was due to Barry's crash? Any damage?
