I mean, using your logic:

You dislike me because I find fault with Mr Armstrong.

I have 2 children.

Therefore you hate kids.

so what......

i get lied to everyday by the diet industry, the hair care industry, the tobacco industry the car industry.......

armstrong is product

he has successfully packaged and sold that product...he used cycling to create the product

he is a very successful consumer product

if you don't like him you would need to dislike western consumerism and all those lovely 'products' you may own

it isn't the olympian ideal granted, but then sport veered away from that long long ago

Give me a BREAK...I cut my own hair, I don't diet, and what the ****...any freakin half brained boob has known for years that cigs cause cancer. Big Tobacco told lies is just some popycock excuse for idiots who take no responsibility for their actions.

I don't like him because I don't like him. Has nothing to do with consumerism. I don't donate money to him, I don't ride a Trek, I don't buy his cheesy fatigue products. I don't like him. Get it?

I think you have some unresolved issues you need to work out.

Exactly! Sadly, these forums are becoming more unreadable every day. Every thread seems to degenerate into the same crap.....

What we need is a good race to discuss. The Vuelta is on the horizon, so don't despair. Eneco Tour has been pretty cool in that Farrar is kicking ****, so there are some good things going on. Just cool out and things will get interesting in other places.

I will jump in here because a lot of this is really funny...but some good stuff too. I knew and raced with lance (early 90's). I did not like him then...as a person...not as a racer. Me personally, I admire people who can excell at their chosen profession (not necessarily sports) and maintain a very down to earth profile. No big ego, condescending attitudes etc. However, in life you see this everywhere. I am a biochemist now and there are plenty of people I work with who are so self important they make me sick. I don't like Cavendish because of his personality. I like Boonen because of his, even though he has done some things that I totally disagree with. My dislike of LA is not because of the riding or doping, but because of his personality. He twitters like my 15 year old daughter. Hell, he acts like a 15 year old girl for petes sake!!! I like Contador more than I ever liked LA...even if it came out that he has been doping...because he acts more mature than LA.

I would not say I am a basher...but I will put in a juvenile jab every now and again (uniball, dating young girls, etc.). I love reading the jabs from TFF and others...they make me laugh. Heck, Scribe makes me laugh too!! Too many on here take this **** too serious. It is a sport and nothing more. Lets just have some fun and do what we do.

+1... sums up my feelings exactly! (except for the Scribe making me laugh statement.. ;))

Yeah true.... can't wait 'til the Vuelta!

"The Clinic" was my little place of sanity during the tour, where a lot of really good threads were discussed without all the fanboys coming in and ruining every thread. In fact, some people, like 95rpm, would defend Lance but in a way that added to the discussion rather than completely ruining the thread. Maybe we all need to hang out in the Mountain Biking forums now?!

You aren't taking the logical argument far enough.

-You hate kids. You must therefore hate the process by which kids are created. If you hate that process and hate kids, the human race will die out.

Why do you hate humans so much?

No I won't relax...I get sick and tired of dill weeds telling me not to dislike LA. Then they go on and think they can paint me as some western over consuming idiotic turd. I have reasons and they were spelled out very clearly above. Go purchase a cheesburger, claim the McDonalds lied to you about the health effects and try to get some money. You seem to be down with that.

disliking is fine

you seem to have veered into hate

hate is not a great emotion for health and well being

There you go again...telling me how to live my life...why do you feel the need to do that?

Believe it or not...99.999% of my life has nothing to do with cycling or LA. If there is a little hate in that .001% then so be it.

People need to worry about themselves instead of others.

Yet here you are, whining about alleged doping by others and how it is perceived by others...

You should really do something about your anger management issues. All I did was point out the absurdity of telling others to worry about themselves instead of others given all your posts in this thread. Maybe you're of the "Do as I say, not as I do" camp.

Yet you obviously didn't read my initial post....come on man.

How about this...why don't you answer the OP and then I will respond to you. Lets hear what you have to say on the subject? If you don't want to fine...but don't converse with me about anything in this thread.

Your initial post on the first page where you agreed that there isn't enough Lance bashing? (Odd for someone who feels we should all just worry about ourselves) Or your more substantive second post where you describe your experience racing and mention his personality while also mentioning his doping? (Again, odd in light of your post that prompted me to chime in from the peanut gallery of unregistered lurkers)

As for me personally, I want to believe he's clean because, like many people my age he was a big part, rightly or wrongly, of what got us interested in the sport to begin with. I followed it in his first retirement and will follow after he leaves again, but I can't honestly say I would have begun following it if he never existed. I also think in light of the sport at large, suspicion is to be expected. I'm not quite so Pollyanna-ish as to think there's 0% chance that Lance used. So while I think people like "ThoughtForFood" are ludicrous in their Lance hatred, I'm not going to be one of the fanbois who would bet their houses he's clean. I'm what you'd call an optimistic realist on the issue. Would I be bummed if he tested positive? Sure. Would I be shocked...not really.

All that being said, I do think there is too much Lance bashing. But that's an opinion. It can't really be proven right or wrong, so why bother? I'm certainly not going to change your mind or ThoughtForFood's mind. I try to keep my reading of The Clinic to a minimum because it's full of really jaded individuals who, while mostly well-intentioned, make the sport less enjoyable. Some (perhaps even most) know a whole lot more about the sport than I do and have followed it for far longer. So I respect their experience, if not their approach. Maybe that's me putting my head into the sand a bit, but the flow of bile and negativity from this sub-forum isn't generally my idea of fun, even if I think it's occassionally important to sneak a peak at.

Fair enough...I post here a lot...the first post was a joke...I like to make jokes. Anyway, if people want to bash...why not? Bash away. My second post states that I really don't hold LAs eledged doping as the reason for my dislike...I said it is the personality that I don't like. Buy you are way off to say that I was whining about his doping...where did that come from?

I too am an optimist...but know in my mind that many of these guys are fueled up!! Hence my favorite rider (who has been since way before this past Tour) is Kenny van Hummel. As someone stated elsewhere...if Kenny is doping...he needs to get a better physician!!

Been wanting to rant about something for a while, this is only a rant....

Let me say straight out...I am no Lance fan. I would have preferred that he stayed retired. There is all kinds of smoke around him from his first go round as a pro, as well as his second go round. We all know the stories.

That said, give it a rest. Stop *****ing and moaning, bringing up the same info (accurate or not). Stop crashing any thread about anyone else and adding a comment about Lance being a doper. I am not talking about something that might happen today or in the future. I am referring to tired stories we have all heard countless times before. Until some new info comes along, could we agree to leave the past lie?

I say this because I have always been the type to step in and defend someone who is getting ganged up on. With all the people on this forum that club Lance like he is a defensless baby seal, I am starting to feel sympathy for him...and I do not like it!

Thank you for your time.

...Rant over.

Why would you make thread about it? If you are told not to do something most people will do that something. This will start more lance bashing. Most people don't lance bash. Bashing someone is bagging them with no solid evidence. Having an opinion is what most people on this thread do and they back it up with solid evidence.
