Your initial post on the first page where you agreed that there isn't enough Lance bashing? (Odd for someone who feels we should all just worry about ourselves) Or your more substantive second post where you describe your experience racing and mention his personality while also mentioning his doping? (Again, odd in light of your post that prompted me to chime in from the peanut gallery of unregistered lurkers)
As for me personally, I want to believe he's clean because, like many people my age he was a big part, rightly or wrongly, of what got us interested in the sport to begin with. I followed it in his first retirement and will follow after he leaves again, but I can't honestly say I would have begun following it if he never existed. I also think in light of the sport at large, suspicion is to be expected. I'm not quite so Pollyanna-ish as to think there's 0% chance that Lance used. So while I think people like "ThoughtForFood" are ludicrous in their Lance hatred, I'm not going to be one of the fanbois who would bet their houses he's clean. I'm what you'd call an optimistic realist on the issue. Would I be bummed
All that being said, I do think there is too much Lance bashing. But that's an opinion. It can't really be proven right or wrong, so why bother? I'm certainly not going to change your mind or ThoughtForFood's mind. I try to keep my reading of The Clinic to a minimum because it's full of really jaded individuals who, while mostly well-intentioned, make the sport less enjoyable. Some (perhaps even most) know a whole lot more about the sport than I do and have followed it for far longer. So I respect their experience, if not their approach. Maybe that's me putting my head into the sand a bit, but the flow of bile and negativity from this sub-forum isn't generally my idea of fun, even if I think it's occassionally important to sneak a peak at.
