It was the more classic 4-3-3 / dutch total football system. We crushed France and Italy with it but Russia was much more clever and out played us.
Now the system is different but the players have become..worse
I think Demy De Zeuw played the holding role. And Van Basten started both van Dr Vaart and Snejder in Central Midfield.

The 98 WC and 2000 Euro dutch teams were great. Left back was the only suspect position. U had van Der Saar in goal. Stam and Frank De Boer as Cbs. Reizeger as Right Back. Seedorf, Cocu and Davids in CM. Overmars, Zenden and Ronlad De Boer on the flanks. Bergkamp behind the Striker and Kluivert up top.
Pity they went out in the semis in both tournaments and you failed to qualify for the 2002 WC when Van gaal's spell became a disaster.
