Remember that Rog wasn't supposed to reveal his injury in Itzulia?
Yeah, but right now “unofficial” reports are going around and taken for the truth.

I dont understand the secrecy at all. The condition of Kruiswijk has been explained, why not Roglic’s?

I am sure by now proper xrays should have been taken and those are usually digital so they could have been sent to the Jumbo doctors immediately.

I hope it is all less serious than now reported though. The guy has got his amount of bad luck in a cycling career for now.

Yeah, the radio silence from the team is surprising. Opens them up to a lot of speculation that could have been avoided.

Yeah the communication is really strange. Maybe they don't wanna communicate that they let Roglic race for a week and a half with broken vertebrae, or they're unsure whether he'll make the Vuelta, but it's really weird nonetheless.

It is a strange situation. Especially the fact that information or rumors are unoficially given to certain media by Roglic's agent. It can mean lots of things...

I think all Jumbo squad, doctors and everybody are in France, preparing for huge party and incredible success they are having right now. They don't care about an old cyclist with broken back. It's history. They have their green and yellow wonder boys now.

I'm sure when documentary about this will be released, they'll forget Roglič all together.

Let's wait and see what will unfold in next days / weeks. If this is true and they treat Rogla as afterthought he should start searching for new employee.

Merijn Zeeman was asked the question regarding Roglic's injuries this morning in an interview (which was predictable considering the lack of information put forward by Jumbo): Zeeman over Vuelta-deelname Roglic: "We kunnen nu nog geen ja of nee zeggen" | WielerFlits

Zeeman over rugblessure Roglic: 'Nog geen streep door Vuelta' (nos.nl)

He's refusing to rule Roglic out the Vuelta yet (neither yes or no) & didn't confirm the status of his injuries (beyond the fact he was badly battered). Pretty evasive stuff but they're still hopeful.

I agree. Also I think this would be really stupid from JV. Even if Vingo is now a step above for TdF win. A Roglic in top form is currently a phenomenal threat for everybody else other than Vingo and Pogacar.
This would be a dumb decision to ditch him.

There is a difference between just starting the Vuelta and going for GC. The way the NOS headlined is framed suggests GC, but it's speculation again without any information about the injuries.

The fact Jumbo & Zeeman didn't flat-out deny the rumors means I'd speculate Jumbo knows exactly what's wrong (fractured vertebrae) but they're basically waiting until the TdF is over to give further information because they don't want bad news to spoil their party in Paris. Right now, the sponsors are having a riot. It's like Christmas for them.

If news got out that Roglic raced 9 TdF stages with a broken back it could make them look bad (& yes, that's despite prior examples like Simon Clarke who rode the TdF with a fractured back). Roglic played a really important role in the race (stage 11) & quite probably torpedoed his own season in doing so.

Well. The Tour is over. We’ll never know what could have been, but we can speculate. Where would he have finished completely healthy and at full health?

I think healthy Rogla would totally changed race dynamics. TJV would have to do a decision at some point because riding for 2 GT pretenders is mission impossible even for team as strong as they are.

They would not sacrifice healthy Rogla in stage 11 to break Pogi. Or would they? We'll never know.

Yes - how could he ever beat G :) The last couple of years must have been hard on you:)
Can u tell me when he has beaten G in GC in the Tour?

Did you know G finished last year's Tour after dislocating his shoulder in stage 3? Real fighter mentality!

All in all it was just a race. Rogličes chances for any meaningful place GC vise ended on stage 5. Still he hanged on and helped shape the outcome of this Tour edition on stage 11.

Could he beat Geraint Thomas? Considering Geraint Thomas was in great shape at this Tour edition. In my opinion he could. On stage 7 he finished ahead being badly injured. I don't feel much discussion beyond that is needed. That is any serious discussion.
