As Planica hosted the biggest sporting event in the history of Slovenia, the 43rd FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. Where in ski jumping Slovenia took gold for both men individual and team. And as Primož is a ski jumper. While we wait for him to open the 2023 season. A song from the opening ceremony:

Hey, Triglav, my home. How gorgeous you are.

At the medal ceremony Roglič was there with the help of his friend Robert Hrgota. Main coach of Slovenian Eagles and a member of the junior team that alongside Roglič became world champions.

Once an eagle always an eagle.

I saw Laibach earlier this year, but it was a bit different...

And what does that tell looking forward to the Giro?
"Sweet f**k All!" as Roger Daltry sang. Sorry, but this is a shake out cruise on a TT bike for someone coming back from shoulder reconstruction. He'll need alot more time to get a totally comfortable position. Riding 30 mph for a first effort average does look healthy, though. The first sprint stage he survives and the first major climb he finishes will be part of the training, for sure.
Remco and Pogi will lose no sleep, either.

At least at this point in time....

Good performance today on an opening ITT. I feel that weather played a rather big role. Nonetheless Rogla was positioned to ride in a group of some other close GC favorites and has achieved an advantage. Towards the end of the race conditions were much better. Time differences started to grow substantially. In such condition i feel that Rogla would be able to finish a couple of seconds earlier.

Form looks good so far and in March ITT likely won't be the deciding factor. Winning races. The finale of stage 6 should be a good indicator. On where his form currently is.

Protected rider on stage 2. When van Aert stopped pulling, getting Rogla safely inside the 3km, Rogla was a bit hesitant. As he wanted to sprint. But no sprint train.

P.S. I am sure that there will be more chances.

Did some strong pulls in "TTT" today. Now i guess we are entering the Rogla terrain. Could see JV taking the remaining stages. Fingers crossed.

I guess Pogi is off the hook. In regards to season 2023 predictions and rankings. Lets see if March will be good to Rogla. To also climb that ladder. To more realistic numbers.

And what does that tell looking forward to the Giro?

It says form is temporary, yet class is permanent.

Injuries notwithstanding, Roglič has a high base level as a rider which allows him to compete all year. This has been true since his breakout seasons in 2017 & 2018. So logically if he's trained well & has no health issues... he should be there or thereabouts in the GC fight, as per usual.

But let's wait & see.

Rigth in the thick of it in the echelon today. Was also rushing at the finish trying to close some gap not losing seconds. He's definitely going for it.

I was convinced he was going for it from the moment he showed up with hair on his legs. Coming from the same rider who pioneered the high fashion "socks + flipflops" casualness, not bothering to shave the legs seemed like typical peak Rogla when he's feeling good.

Just my opinion. But we'll see more today.

Jumbo be lying.

Also Roglic can just help van Aert by doing reverse leadout that nobody follows
I always think that Roglic doesn't know how to ride this kind of stages if Wout is around, he's like no leader and not domestique either. When he's just with some "random helpers" like in the Vueltas and Paris Nice 2021, he knows he has to activate the killer instinct and go for the stomp.
I hope that Movistar and UAE to put the hammer down on the climbs to make the stage too much for any heavyweight, that can help.

He was way back in the group on the 3rd to last and on the second to last climb, but on the last one he was in an OK position. That being said, JV should have paced harder on the last lap with Benoot and the likes. Probably WvA would not have crashed and it just makes it easier to stay at the front so the other teammates. Plus the riderd who got dropped would not have gotten back on just to make it dangerous for all the others (Ganna, Girmay, MvdP...).
