Imagine if any effort would be wasted at all, on all the ageism talk from cycling fandom, what a huge pile of wasted effort that would be. Anyway. Considering this was a transitional season for Rogla, on where he did good, it's reasonable to expect season 2025 to be better in terms of such stats. Rogla took one step back for being able to take two steps forward. Key in 2025 season will be to avoid injuries, beyodn that good luck to competition. They will need it.

The Giro route is not really friendly to him, very few unipuertos and not a lot of ITT. I think he'll try to get time early in ITT and stages 7&16. The final 2 stages are really hard and probably only trying to defend.

If healthy i feel that conservative approach is what the head says but the heart will likely win on an occasion and Rogla will, although needlessly, attack. We'll see.

It is but he is racing against Jonas IMHO, only Pogacar would be a worse opponent.
Surely Roglic didn't expect Jonas to come to Algarve/Catalunya, it makes zero sense for a Tour preparation. Wouldn't surprise me if Rog suddenly goes for Tirreno/Itzulia at some point next year.

And why would he do that? Roglic is a beast in one week races, if anything everyone else should be afraid of him and not vice versa. 😉
Roglic hasn't been a beast for quite a while, barely won Dauphine against Jorgenson for 8" , beat Evenepoel by 6" in Catalunya and finished 10th in PN. Against Jonas he is not the favorite.

He is the master of one week races, no matter what you say. 🤷‍♀️

While his win in Catalunya '23 was legendary, it is quite hard to argue against the fact that he hasn't faced the stiffest opposition in the one-week races he has managed to win in the last three years. In fact, he hasn't participated in one alongside Pog or Vingegaard since Dauphiné '22 apart from the fateful Itzulia '24.

Last time he met Pogi in one of those was in Itzulia '21. Crazy.

Yes, he just needs to avoid Vingegaard in one week stage races and he will win a lot. Pogacar doesn't care about one week stage races. There is no doubt he is the best.

Catalunya for someone who targets Tour makes little sense and it's usually done by those who go for Giro but probably Vingegaard wanted to win it as well.

Not true. Contador was doing Catalunya regularly, Froome has done it often as well, so did Quintana too.
