He was totally happy after the stage while interrupting the Interview with Lipowitz and doing a short interview with german Television himself.
He must make it to Paris. It was a little worrisome that he dropped on the climb 5k or so from the finish. It came back together, but as he learned yesterday, he needs to not assume it will come back together. Normally he should be top 3 on this stage, so hopefully he's just saving his bullets. The problem is he might save his bullets just to get top 3 two minutes back on the climbing stages. Is that better than burning a match to go for a stage victory early? I'm not sure. I hope he doesn't ride this to an anonymous top 5, to be honest.
I totally agree. Hearing him say I really don't care again today. He has a year left on his contract...I like that he was there on the final climb, but his positioning got him gapped earlier. On one hand I hope he’s riding into form for later on, but I am concerned he’s not looking like or riding like a real contender here. Let’s see on Wednesday what he brings. I honestly feel like he has one foot out the door (looking to retiring soon) after hearing his interviews this race
Another day another win for Rogli (no DNF)![]()
The positive thing is that he didn't crash. But his race feeling isn't good.
We shouldn't just focus on the result. Feelings in the race are important.
He isn't happy racing for 3rd. I think he's made that perfectly clear. But that is the best he can expect when the 2 mutants are there. Maybe if he can win a stage his mental attitude will change.
He looked like he didn't want to get mixed up in a dicey sprint with not much at stake. A jumpy Alaphillipe can do that to a wise riderI for one was breathing a lot easier today. He was present and accounted for until the final climb. An in form Primoz would have been in the mix but all he lost was bonus seconds.
Wisely doesn't chase MvP. It's like the dog that finally catches the truck....what do you do then?Rog doesn't race a GT the way he races a one week stage race, he's way more patient and saves his bullets for specific moments. He doesn't chase classics type stage versus riders like VdP either.
It's pretty clear Bora's DS needs to re-order the priorities until the TT or the nickel and diming for time Roglic and Lipowitz are taking because they have to protect position by themselves is losing.
I don’t think this is totally accurate. He has gone for - and won - many stages with punchy finales in GTs .Rog doesn't race a GT the way he races a one week stage race, he's way more patient and saves his bullets for specific moments. Yeah he was a total nonfactor because he was completely asleep as his own DS said. That was not a surprising split.
Even the commentators at Eurosport said it and they are normally completely useless when it comes to actual race commentary.
All this talk about safety is of course total BS.
The team is just bad, Roglic is bad, the DS seem to have no control over their riders (see Lipowitz fighting alone for a long time, van Poppel leading out Meeus for 38th). That race is over for Red Bull before it really started. But they are really good at finding excuses. They will find ways to tell you why a eigth place from Lipo and a 3rd Place on Stage XYZ from Roglic means this Tour was a big success,
For Roglic, it's not too bad if you think it's about 3rd place ...
Roglič looked on par with Buchmann in the hills today, his fast-twitch fibres must have been destroyed completely or something.

This is probably where Roglic gets 4th on Hautacam which means you were confidently very wrong, and then claim you were right.Roglic got badly dropped on a short hill where Remco came back easily from a even worse position. If you still think that this is normal then nothing will change your mind until he gets completely destroyed by 10 guys on Hautacam.
