I will be fairly surprised if roglic can't dust ineos with relative ease to be honest. Even not at his best you would expect him to be able to keep up and take the boni seconds.

G is consistent but lacks explosivity, TGH is looking really good but I have never considered him to be in rog's league. But that could have changed, but I see no real evidence of that yet.

Yeah, I generally consider Primoz in GT top3 (after Vingegaard and Pogacar) and clearly ahead of Thomas. But TGH may turn out to be a dangerous rival, especially with some tactical help from his team.

Now if Primoz will win this Giro, he‘ll feel like Ivan Gotti felt after 1999 Giro.

Gotti said, „The Tifosi treated me as if I was a thief“…

This time, Tifosi grief about loss of Remco. 1999, it was Pantani. History repeats itself, sometimes - as they say…

No, I think nobody will do this comparison. Pantani was dominating 1999 Giro. Remco was not dominating this Giro.

I could be wrong about this Giro but the whole tactical angle has never really worked much in GT recent history. By & large it's always the strongest guy who takes the win, even when he's outnumbered by GC rivals from the same team. If Rog has the level we expect him to have (no reason why not), then there's not much Ineos can do. We always hear the same remarks about tactical plays but when one rider goes uphill faster than the others... it's pretty straightforward.

I think Jumbo will be quite confident going into the coming week tbh. I imagine Ineos will have the jersey through until Friday, after that Jumbo will need to step up & control it.

I don't know but I'm pretty confident right now. I mean if this scenario had been presented 8 days ago (2 seconds behind Thomas in pink on the first rest day), I'm pretty sure the unanimous verdict would have been it's good for Rog. There hasn't been any crash or illness (certainly not Rog's fake Covid rumor) which has changed his outlook either.

It was at last year's Tour but Vinge was super-strong anyway. Generally all fair points and Rogla is #1 favourite ofc. It's just that, unlike Thomas, Tao is kinda enigma to me. He's in his lifetime form but what is his ceiling? He can have a Hindley-like performance in him and become a serious rival.

He's also quite fortunate that the roles should be clear in the strong UAE team. Almeida has an excellent chance for a podium, he won't try anything wild. Vine is more than 2' back, McNulty just want a stage win. So if Ineos try anything with Sivakov et al., UAE should help Jumbo control the race.

I hope that Roglic and Jumbo learned the lesson from Planche des Belles Filles and now they will try to put as more time as possible between him and other contenders before Lussari ITT
I would think any smart team DS would not want to leave anything to chance (i.e., they should get as big a cushion as they can) heading into that final TT. It’s a very atypical TT and on Stage 20 to boot, they all should be wary about their guys(s) will perform.

He's soooooo noooot comfortable talking in english. I'm sorry they didn't push him a bit towards learning english better and have better inteviews. He's very different, personality vise, talking in Slovenian language. It's a shame, people would love him even more but he stays an enigma for many.
On the other hand i listened Teo G interview the other day... oh boy. The tension.

I was kind of expecting him to improve in his communication skills after 2018 season when he sort of became famous. But it never happened. It’s true, in Slovenian he is more relaxed and of course uses much broader vocabulary. But the feeling he just doesn’t like public performance is still there.

But more to the point. Is his nose congested as well?

I am happy on how the ITT on stage 9 turned out for Rogla in regards to performance. First part of the Giro now over, legs rested, Evenepoel out due to illness. Suddenly Rogla being placed second in GC in between two Ineos riders. Almeida and Bora riders still close. Margins negligible. All in all rather optimal position.

So now i guess Ineos to throw everything they got at Rogla. All five of them. All just hoping for Rogla not to throw in half a bike length. Nice.

In all seriousness plan A now likely being to reduce the numbers of other teams. Preferably in week 2. And for select group of favorites to be known upfront going in week 3. And of course to stay healthy and on the bike. Rogla and the team.

Starting tomorrow Ineos might already try to bring another rider from the five closer in GC. Hopefully not just for JV to chase. As there are other teams with their own interests still involved in this race. Ideally Ineos to work. We'll see.

Good stage for him and the team. They were very attentive, always riding in the top 15-20 positions in the bunch and apart from Gloag's crash on that little descent at the end, I haven't seen or heard of any complications regarding their riders.

I'm very happy with how the team performed today & he was always surrounded by his men.

On such a tricky stage it bodes well for what's coming next.

Good job today on stage 10 by Rogla and his team. It's now crucial to get through such stages healthy and in full numbers. The weather is really bad. Wet and cold. At least the wind is not as bad as it could be. Hopefully some sun in the week 3.

Let's just say that Primoz doesn't look too good, haha :p

I think he's having the time of his life tbh.

This is the meat & bones of a GT (i.e. attritional conditions), which I also think will cause massive time gaps when the real mountain stages come. Just look at that reduced bunch that made it to the finish yesterday... i.e. put that same sort of stage profile in Tirreno in March in good weather & there's a 80 man bunch who sprint to the line.

I expect Friday to be pretty epic.
