Red Bull are probably short on numbers for these races. He's totally checked out now. This has been true since his not-so-good ITT in the Worlds. It's Joeover for Rog this season.

I also think he's at that point in his career where he knows how to peak for one objective and then close shop. He'll be back... when he's ready.

In 2019 he was similarly *** in the Worlds ITT and then proceeded to win Tre Valli and Emilia.

Just like skipping Tre Valli, this is part of his long-range defence.

Season over, well done! Dauphiné and the Vuelta make it a successful one, and in a very impressive manner for the latter. I hope we'll see him able to show his power-level in the spring next year. Catalunya+Itzulia would be a good target before Flèche!

Wise decision.

It was obvious from everything we've seen since the Vuelta that Rog is out of gas now. It could be a combination of things (such as carrying his post-Tour back injury for so long) but there's no point starting Lombardia just to get dropped as soon as the race gets tough.

Despite all the drama this season & the new team it's been a successful one.
