Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

he disappeared at exactly 200k into the race lol

It's the most obvious Rogla thing ever.

There was never anything coming his way in these Worlds. I do hope his back is okay (he said in an interview a few days ago he still feels it) but he's already won his huge prize this season so whatever happens now (like Emilia) is just a bonus. It'll be hard to win that one as well, i.e. sooner or later, one of these other guys will beat him there.

??? he had the strongest team in the race by far.

also that doesn't even make sense. if they were actually bad and trying to help him lose the race then it would easily be his most impressive win.
The team was the strongest on 2 or 3 stages. There were plenty of times Roglic was left to fend for himself, add in Bora completely messing up stage 6, and their team wide sick fiasco. 2021 Vuelta Roglic was a lot stronger, while 2024 is arguable with 2019.

He did set-up Pogi. Might as well park it after that and rest up for his own targets.

Yeah Chris Horner can stick that in his pipe and smoke it.

But seriously, I'm glad he came out of this relatively unscathed. Some people always had impossible expectations. He 'won' his season 3 weeks ago with Vuelta number 4 & his 5th GT. Everything now (including in the rest of his career tbh) is bonus.

I said it weeks ago, i.e. expect nothing from the Worlds because he'll get nothing. Winning with Pog was the best case scenario for Rog & Slovenia (especially because if Pog hadn't won, all the sharks would be circling and blaming Rog, as per usual).

I'm just happy, he looks happy. It's not easy to be pushed aside by the GOAT of cycling of the same nation. But maybe it is easier, because Pog is just head nad shoulders better than anybody. He'll be able to talk about racing in the era of the best cyclist in the world (ever) while being one of the best for years also.

He needs to pick his battles going forward, arrive healthy still be a factor for years to come. I wouldn't go to tour if i was him, but on the other hand, he just want's to finish the damn thing healthy...i think he needs that closure, result doesn't even matter.
