So not racing then and just everyone wait untill 200 meter and sprint sounds like the biggest snooze fest for me. No thanks. The giro 2023 proved that and so did the interest it draw. Lets face it nightmare scenario for most, panache is the way for most people who likes cycling I believe if you dont bother about who wins.
Between you and me... 'most people who like cycling' do so for chauvinistic reasons. Aka the reason people turn their tv on is to support riders from their own countries. I mean sorry for the nihilistic reality check here... but 'panache' is a point of view. Then the other fact is of course serial winners acquiring a very large fanboy following - like we see in tennis (and now cycling with Pog). But 'proper' cycling IMO has to always be about the difficulty of the sport and the little details which make it suspenseful, aka the teamwork, the route profiles, how each rider does on various types of profiles, the weather etc.
Has Roglic ever really spoken about Tour de Suisse and completion of the seven one-weekers as a particular goal?
That complete set and possible sole holder of the Vuelta wins record should be the goals now.
I think the 'real' goal should be adding another GT to his palmarès. Whether it's the Giro or the Vuelta, it doesn't really matter. 5 is already incredible.
