Manuel Almunia can actually play for England these days... Don't know why they don't get him. He's better than this trash they have now.

EDIT: See Dim beat me too it. Shucks :p

They can't call up Almunia. The british nations have an agreement to never call up someone who wasn't born with local nationality. It came about when the scottish media started yelling for Scotland to call up Nacho Novo.

Very true.

Btw.: According to German TV there is a French guy by the name of Géra playing for England and supposably Liverpool.
Do you know anything about him? Will Almunia be the next foreign player for England?

It still ****es me off that Hargreaves, a Canadian, chose to play for England. Then again, Canada has been the seat of incompetence when it comes to this World Cup thing, so I don't blame the poodle-haired midfielder so much.

there is only one type of british, there are other types of bits n bobs.. lol

england
scotland
ireland
wales

the celtic countries: scotland, ireland, wales
great britain (british): ENgland, scotland and wales
United Kingdom: England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland
British Isles: Great Britain, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Orkney, Shetland, Hebrides, Isle of White, The scillys, Lundy, Channel Islands (Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney and Sark.) plus a few other bits and bobs

that's actually confusing me even more..I always thought Great Britain was the same as United Kingdom? And I never thought of Ireland as a british island..all the other islands, they're part of GB, right? Or part of UK..and then there's the whole commonwealth thing, with India etc. Good thing the old norsemen tired of trying to rule the isles, or you'd all be norwegian today..

Blame the Scottish. For centuries Britain and England were pretty much interchangable, and noone had a problem with it. England could even be used to refer to the whole of the Britsh empire.

It was only until Scottish nationalists started getting uppity in the 1930s that it became passe to refer to Britain as England, and subsequently England gained its 'modern borders' which go from Berwick-upon-Tweed to St. Ives.... Ahhhh, the Scots.

so who are the norweigans supporting in this game?

England. Don't know why, but most norwegians have a soft spot for the english team. Possibly because norwegian TV started broadcasting english league football over forty years ago.

I'm going to think you don't know much about the role of the midfield destroyer and pretend you didn't write that :)

Wow. Amazing. England actually tried to made a sideways pass instead of just pumping the ball in depth.

No surprise that it immediately caused quite a bit of danger.

Have you noticed how the US have all the space they want in front of england's back 4? That's because a player is missing there to defend between the two lines and provide a static positional reference for the defence. A defensive midfielder. By far the most important player in any playing system. Hargreaves is a very good one.

Try watching some football. You may learn something ;)
