Tevez is all class? Right...

I'll rephrase, he is more class than Kuyt. I guess those who'd say Tevez has little class would say the same about Ronaldo, maybe even Rooney. There is a reason he is on the Argentinian pitch at match start. Might be because he is actually good. I'd argue after Mascherano and Messi he is the best player Argentina have. Heck, Australia would take him at the drop of a hat. I don't think we'd take Kuyt.

Then you're delusional about the state of your team as is. You think Brett Emerton is better off the right wing than Kuyt?

Did you notice how Argentina started playing two levels better as soon as Tevez left the pitch and Aguero came on?

And the Dutch come out crying. Alright, point taken, but I never thought you of all the Dutch fans here would take issue over Kuyt of all Dutch players. Look at Liverpool, Kuyt can barely make the starting squad when everyone is fit. All i did was respond to a comparison between Kuyt and Tevez. Have your little Dutch tantrum and get over it. I like Robben, Sneijder and RvP, but I think Kuyt is a waste. Why would you play Emerton on the wing? He is best as a right back or as a defensive midfielder. As for Australia, how much clearer can I be...the Socceroos are up $h1t creek without a paddle. I could very easily blame a Dutchman if you'd like...but that would be delusional and foolish.

Back to non Dutch issues. When Sani Katia was sent off a few minutes back the Aussie commentator said, "Madness, pure madness." My mind thought instantly of 300 and the crazy Persian emissary quoting almost those exact words at King Leonidas. The irony isn't lost on me. Greece only need to channel their best inner Spartan warrior spirit and get an upset here, kind of like Gerard Butler did in the movie.

Greece score. Bye, bye Nigeria.

Yes I did. But it wasn't like they'd played poorly before that. They got fresh legs and a striker who ran at the backs with Messi. Not rocket science, it was what was needed. You'd have a point if Tevez was crap beforehand but he wasn't.

Actually Kuyt started more games this season than any other Liverpool player. Go figure. Kuyt looks funny and isn't a natural goal-getter, but he's consistent, rarely blundrs, is incredibly hard working, has underrated speed and skills and is very capable when going back to help out the defense. For some reason people always underrate Kuyt... I have no idea why. I would always start him in the Dutch team, on the right-wing, Robben on the left and van der Vaart on the bench. Thats my personal opinion.

I never like watching him and Crouch together at Liverpool. Always looked weird, as you said, "looks funny." That's all there really is. However being physically fit is a useful asset for any team, especially with the injuries to key Dutch players this season domestically. Heck, Kuyt scored the other day, that's a bonus. It's fair to say I underrate him...nothing more. It's fair to say I overrate Tevez...Man Utd are my second team to cheer for after the Gunners and I did think Man Utd were crazy not to buy out his contract last season.

another comment about UK commentary.

In the Argentina south korea game, there was a fan holding an oversised hand which said "la mano de dios".
The commentators had absolutely no idea what it meant.
Cant remember the last time i watched a cycling stage without any interview be it spanish french italian or german immediately being translated for the viewer.

The best bit is the irony. "la mano de dios " means "the hand of god" so the english commentators were talking about it, ignorant of the fact that the joke was on them.

Shame for Nigeria. Played with spirit. I feel sorry for Enyeama. Played his heart out and kept making great saves.

I do as well but look at the numbers in for and against. If Nigeria beat South Korea 1-0 and Greece do as most assume they will against Argentina, conceding goals, then weirdly enough Nigeria will progress on goal aggregate. All is not over in that pool. Greece need a draw as a minimum and need to hope Nigeria beat Korea. South Korea, ideally are in the box seat. They played well against Greece and Argentina. All they need is a draw and Argentina to not slow down, which is unlikely. I hope Korea goes through so at least one Asian team makes the round of 16. I also wouldn't mind seeing the Greeks pull of a coup de etat, but that is stretching my imagination and reality too far.

I prefer Huntelaar to Kuyt. Elia should've started in VdV's place against Denmark.

Stekelenburg

Van Der Weil
Heitinga
Mathijsen
Van Bronckhorst

Van Bommel
De Jong
Sneijder

Robben
Huntelaar
Elia

you have no clue about football.. What kuyt lacks in flare, he makes up with work rate. A player like him can be so valuable to a team. And Kuyt never had trouble making the line up, where did you get that idea?
Not saying he is the greatest player, but calling him crap is a comment of someone who knows nothing about the game.

^luckyboy

Huntelaar before RvP?
I think some don't give VdV the credit he deserves either.
But yeah, it's hard to find a spot for all these guys. Elia certainly provided the team with some extra speed and flare which opened up the game.

I think france will bounce back. hope not :p

I prefer Huntelaar, but they could rotate or something..
VdV is good, but not as good as Sneijder. They don't really fit in together.

Can anyone keep the ball down?!?! Good grief.

I've noticed that. can it be because of the infamous new ball? I swear I've seen it going in a nice trajectory, then suddenly going more upwards.

look at those two last free kicks from mexico. way to high. I honestly think it might be due to the ball.
