You changed my post to "bla bla bla"? Seriously?
I argued he made a number of incredibly basic tactical mistakes that completely burned Australia out of the game and I detailed them in a rational manner, and your argument to the contrary basically amounts to "nyah uh!".

Nice. What level. What constructive critique.

EDIT: Oh right. I remember you know. You're the guy who always blindly defends every dutchman. Verbeek is dutch. It all makes perfect sense now.
Once again, chill out dude. I don't blindly defend every Dutchman. Like I said, I don't even like Verbeek. And the "blablabla" was purely to save our fellow posters some annoying scrolling through copied posts.

I disagree. His feet where behind the french defender's feet.

It doesn't matter where their feet were. What matters is who's got the closest limb or body part (facing the goal), and that was the Mexican player by some margin IIRC.

EDIT: Apparently the arms are not included, but the head and body are still included so he was offside.

Thanks for the backup, cartman. But Mexico did play a better game, so they deserved the win (just not that particular goal, based on soccer's own rule set).

And for everyone else: His feet were closer to the goal line. It was offside, and it's okay to admit it. Mexico played a better game and won the points, but this one goal was offside.

I hate France but the worst thing about this is the draw england now have.

For england the worst case scenario was that they would have to face France (who barely qualified and the worst of all the seeded teams) in the last 8 and that was by no means guaranteed.
Now to get to the semis they have to beat the following.

algeria
slovenia
ghana/ serbia/ australia
south korea/ greece/ uruguay/ mexico

Meanwhile in other parts of the draw Portugal, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Italy, Chille, Paraguay will all cancel eachother out.

Usually when someone gets an easy draw its because weaker teams have knocked out the big guns. But here england are simply given all the easier teams while the big guns have to fight eachother for the right to meet england in the last 4.

The equivalent of this in a tennis grand slam would be seeding Federer Nadal Roddick, Djokovic, Del Potro in one half of the draw and Murray + the girls under 15 singles in the other.

yeah that is a bit of a joke... however the wc can be unpredictable

The ref is terrible today

He's not bad; he's just strict. Teams need to realize what the nature of their ref is and adjust accordingly. In line with how he'd been dishing yellow cards before I'd say Klose's 2nd was totally deserved.

But the line he has been using for the cards is stupid. I meant there has been nothing of malice or danger in any of Klose's challenges

it should not have been a red.
Oh well makes match more interesting, group more interesting.

And it serves Klose right for refusing to play for his country, and switching nationality.

you have no clue about football.. What kuyt lacks in flare, he makes up with work rate. A player like him can be so valuable to a team. And Kuyt never had trouble making the line up, where did you get that idea?
Not saying he is the greatest player, but calling him crap is a comment of someone who knows nothing about the game.

Do tell me again why my country allowed individuals with such weak personas, like you, in the door? Really, why stay here in Australia? You're the one with no clue, letting your blind patriotic vitriol dictate your tastes. I cannot wait for the usual Dutch self implosion in football and on the bike. The next 6 weeks should deliver both. You Dutch are worse than ACF94. Newsflash, Liverpool sucked this season without Torres and Gerrard in form. Oh, but they had Kuyt...spare me. His team couldn't even beat Aston Villa and Tottenham to finish 4th. Go back and read what I wrote. He isn't crap, but he isn't nearly as good as Tevez, which is what the original comment and my reply was about. To repeat an on-going theme on these forums...the Dutch are weak. One word of criticism and 90% of you get all shirty. If need be I'll write you all an excuse book for when the inevitable occurs and the Dutch choke at the WC and Gesink crashes or blows everything.

For his 2nd he hit Jovanovic's leg (not the ball) from behind. That's an automatic yellow no matter what the 'malice or danger' was.

But the first one they tripped over each others feet... and apart from the sending off, the constant stoppages are harming the flow

He's Spanish, so he must be corrupt or something :D

Now, really, despite FIFA's guidelines and recommendations, there's still too much in the application of the rules that is left to the ref interpretation, and different countries/cultures have different level of tolerance regarding yellow/red card punishments.

Germany... So much for making the Fatherland proud.

Now they'll probably have to go out and beat Ghana, sans-Klose, unless Australia pull off a miracle this afternoon to take the top spot.

I thought so too.
Turns out its messed up. The next 2 matchens are group c. Then presumably tomorow back to group d. Cant help but notice that France and England are getting the prime time games. Who says fifa doesnt show favouritism to countries where they make the most money.

Hey... That is weird. I hadn't thought about it. It's not even the first game tomorrow even. Have no idea why that is. It can't just be money, because if it was about money I imagine that the Netherlands-Japan would be prime-time tomorrow, rather than Cameroon-Denmark

Yeah, that is a massive long shot. The Aussies have one hope. The Art of Sledging. Our sportsmen are masters in it. A few choice words directed at Ghana players might do the trick. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. If Australia lose, it is possible Serbia will go through. Ghana would have two wins, Germany and Serbia one a piece. Serbia would only need to pull back goal difference and hope Germany beat Ghana and they'd go through. Either way, Germany is in a better position than France.
