Wonder if they will allow him to race this calender year? Did they find out some new dirt recently? If they have firm evidence of doping now or in the past then they should not allow him to ride this year

Becca does not want to pay him. It is as simple as that

Could also be the fact that he paid a Gynecologist he never met $10,000 for interval workouts

Firm evidence like he was suspended for being positive for a banned substance you mean.

In my book Frank Schleck is as bad as it gets on and off the bike. His abrasive personality and constant denial is Armstrong like IMHO. How can a guy deny the whole 10,000$ payment with a straight face?!?!

I don't think that is it. It's probably part of it. But Fränk was never officially fired until now, so to me that means he was still being paid by his employer. I don't know of course, but that's how I understand it.

In this scenario Becca was paying him 7 months for doing nothing, and now that he can actually do his job he fires him.

In my book this is just another one of a series of way below the belt blows by Becca. He hates the Schlecks and vice versa. Since he is cutting his losses at the end of the season he grabbed the last chance to harm them by 1) getting rid of Fränk altogether and 2) doing so at the worst possible moment for Andy.

Becca really is the biggest scumbag in cycling and that's saying a lot. Good f-ing riddance that he will finally be gone at the end of the season.

In this scenario, Becca just sold the team, whereas months ago it was still his and Fränk was an asset. He had an easy way out to save that money, and he's taken it.

Yes that is a good point also. Plus if Becca wanted to continue with the team he needed Fränk because he's a Luxembourger, and a national hero and all that jazz. Now that he's out he doesn't give a sh*t about what people will say, it's not his problem anymore

Maybe Trek, who I understand is taking over the team, does not want Frank on the team.

I don't think so - when asked specifically about Fränk, Guercilena answered "Yes, we want to continue with all top riders" (no jokes please)

I was surprised by his firing, sure he was caught yada yada yada but with all the old Andy & Frank pairing/connection it seemed it was a done deal. Not signing him might be the eventual (well we know OPQS might be the new team now) departure of the Schlecks from the team.

Would be surprised if OPQS picks up Frank now (mid season).

Still think Frank is on the blacklist (as un-validated as that maybe), the Bottle effect.

I'm not sure if he as bad as it gets, but he certainly doesn't seen like a good investment.

He's an unrepentant cheat who isn't even the top GC contender at his family reunion.

Sure, he's had some good results through the years, but his primary job description on Shack seemed to be to keep his brother happy.

With the emergence of Froome, Quintana, Tejay, and many others, the likelihood of Frank standing on a podium seems quite remote.

What team in their right mind would pay a big price-tag for the brothers who now come with a history of a doping positive, admissions of clinical depression, relatively poor marketability, and only an outside chance of top results?

He doped, he got caught, and it's going to cost him a lot of lost opportunity.

Will Christina Watches be signing a new climber this year?

Be interesting to see if he takes a domestique job with a World Tour team or team leader position with a Pro Conti outfit. That's if anyone hires him at all. Can't imagine there's teams falling over each other to show him a cheque book.

Frank getting fired? Got what he deserved.

Amen, Darwin.

Cheat - be dumb enough to get caught - lose your job. That's the way it goes in almost every profession.

If he signs on with a non ProTour team for the Vuelta, then he is taking the place of a rider who deserves the chance to shine in a GT. Any team who signs him for that will certainly send a negative message to the riders who have represented that team for this season.

If he signs with a ProTour team to be a mountain helper or wild-card GC hopeful, the same situation exists.

IMO, Frank should be smart and retire. Or, he should join the anti-doping crew and admit he cheated, then do something to help clean things up.

Either go away quietly ot fight against those who cost him so dearly. Anything else would be a shameful end to his career.

The title of the CN story from today is:

"Frank Schleck surprised by RadioShack dumping"

He is quoted in the story as being surprised by being dumped and proudly states that he did not look around for other work during his 12 month suspension.

What a complete moron!

Would any other employee be surprised if their employer did not renew their employment contract after said employee violated the terms of the employment contract by failing a drug test?

Radioshack invested heavily in Frank. Frank returned the favor by doing little other than bringing a lot of negative press to Radioshack while earning no marketing space during the past year.

In short, he was a terrible investement for his sponsors.

Still, he expresses "surprise" that the same sponsors won't pay him more.

There are several types of stupid. Unfortunatley, Frank Schleck has lived up to the definition of them all, and done so quite publicly.

Still, there are some on this forum who would cast aspersions at his employers. Let any of them make such a poor investment in an employe then re-hire that employee.

^^^^^ This. I'm just surprised the team carried on paying him after the conclusion of proceedings. Perhaps the impending change of ownership is the catalyst for his sacking. Trek may have more of a say in the run up to the handover.

In any event it's right that he should be shown the door, only surprise is that it didn't happen when his suspension had run out of appeals.

Maybe it was about keeping Andy content. You know, keep a happy shop so that their big GC contender can perform...although the timing of the decision doesn't really support this

No, Frank was not paid during his suspension. Becca would have had to pay him for the rest of this year once he returned but saw no reason to do so as he is out of the game now.
