In the UK most people would immediately think of Jade Goody when you mention cancer - she's had a huge impact on raising awareness in this country. It's somewhat egocentric to assume that only Armstrong can do good work for cancer - Jane Tomlinson is another who springs readily to mind.

Yes, he raises money - though the organisers of the TDU were somewhat surprised to see the 1 million dollars they thought they's donated to Livestrong go straight into Armstrong's own pocket - but that's an entirely separate issue from whether or not he broke the rules that he knows inside out.

It still puzzles me why you call the UCI to verify the identity of an AFLD tester - was Bruyneel's 'excellent French' not up to a conversation with Bordry?

jane tomlinson.. yes.. lance.. yes..
but please dont get me started on jade.. im told its wrong to speak ill of the dead.. :(
but the word racist immediately springs to mind...

ooh.. detour.. im turning into a troll...

The latest word

"""The AFLD's statement said the tester "repeatedly" warned Armstrong that he needed to remain under direct observation."""

http://www.velonews.com/article/90386/the-french-anti-doping-agency-says-the-uci-confirms-it-has

If that statement is the truth:

Lance was warned to remain under direct observation,

Then that changes everything.

-0-

It is not a matter of Armstrong cheating or not, He surely is familiar with the protocol, and was warned along with it.

The French may be difficult for Armstrong and now they will take advantage of it and Him.

This may be a sad ending for His wish to race.

Dr. Wattini:
Ben,
Since when being diligent is a dogmatic thing?

I did not say nor imply it was.

It is however this kind of comment to which I was responding: Time [for LA] to walk away with the legacy as intact as possible and whilst the supporters still believe in miracles... Bianchigirl

The hyperbole precludes honest discussion. It necessarily forces one into either of the two camps I identified. It leaves no room for those of us who acknowledge that Lance (and many others) may have taken proscribed drugs, but also acknowledge that certain agencies (L'Equipe in particular) have had a bee in their bonnet for quite some time regarding Lance. But what really bothers me is the ever changing criteria upon which we proclaim verdicts. If one is determined to drag down Lance Armstrong's accomplishments, then we had better drag down all accomplishments, and in fact, all of cycling.

I know that many so want to throw Lance out of cycling, but I see it as tossing the baby to spite the bathwater.

not twenty four tests there though.. and like everyone agrees the chances oif him being stupid enough to dope are 0%

Yes.....and in the process, someone has "doctored" the figures.

Check out his original haematocritic level for Feb 2nd, as originally posted on Feb 12th, with the figures posted above:-

Another misunderstanding or diliberately misleading?

Not that this will concern the xenophobic "fringe" that seem to have found a new target for their hate.

Where on the internet can I follow Sandy Casars same testresults?

Or any other riders for that sake?

Suprise,suprise:D

im still a little mystified as to where exactly you want lance to go?

I think pacing is in order here.
Otherwise, posters on this subject can expect to suffer "the bonk".;)
From this site's latest:-

AFLD decision expected in May
French Anti-Doping Agency AFLD is currently deciding whether or not to open a disciplinary procedure against Lance Armstrong. According to L'Equipe, it will take several weeks before the cycling world will know if the five-time Tour de France winner will be sanctioned for delaying an anti-doping control some three weeks ago.

The decision to open or not to open disciplinary proceedings should be taken in "early May" according to the paper.

Should do wonders for his Giro preparation.

Dude, you cut off your nose to spite your face. Or, you toss the baby out with the bath water. I think you meant the former.

Sandy Casars results aren't splashed all over the net because he gets tested and complies with protocol the way all other riders do.
If there was an issue then we'd hear all about it.
They're all professionals they all know the deal.

so why does it take a month to decide, wether or not they should decide to take disciplinary action against him..

this whole thing is getting more and more preposterous.. the afld balls up the test and procedure, lance doesnt help himself by being an idiot, but both parties sign to say everything is satisfactory and lance is clean in the test. end of story...

well at least it would be.. afld decide to leak the story to lequipe, the uci show a clear disintrest, and now the afld want to keep lance sweating for a month while they blow there own trumpets.. it actually really bloody annnoys me.. whatever happened in 99, lance as any other rider deserves to be tested, the results and report passed to the uci, and if any action needs to be taken, it be taken and then announced to the press.. but kept in confidence up to that point..

the afld's tactic of deliberately stirring up a hornets nest of speculation and gossip needs to be dealt with.. poop stirrers and rumour mongers, who are doing nothing at all for cycling with there instance of one rule for them, one rule for everyone else..

maybe the riders need to start manipulating the press.. when they have a test, immediately tell the papers that the tester was rubbish, that he let the rider wander off and shower, before the lab has a chance to grab the headlines first..

im damn sure that lance isnt the first rider to be allowed to get changed out of his training clothes, or have a shower while the tester has a cup of tea, but we dont hear about the others.. i just would have thought both LA and JB would have had the gumption to realise they where being stitched up.. couple of idiots both of them..

THis came from another internet periodical
A person who was accredited as an inspector from AFLD showed up at Armstrong’s house in Nice,” Bruyneel explained. “And, as it’s logical, before letting him in we made some calls to know if we should or not, first, because anyone can show an accreditation, and second, because we didn’t know if the AFLD had authority to make controls on foreigners. I don’t believe it’s a crime to ask questions, is it?”

Johan thinks the following: My friend LA (who is driving a red Ferrari) is pulled over by the police for not wearing a seattbelt. JB says to the policeman. Mr. Officer, my friend here did not know he was supposed to wear a seatbelt. I am going to call the police station to ask if you in fact are a cop and that you are supposed to wear a seatbelt all times. If you are a suspicious guy, at least in the US, the officer will pull his gun and take you out of the red Ferrari and will dump your behind in jail. The driver, not the co-pilot is supposed to know he should wear a seatbelt.
JB is right, he can ask questions, all the questions he wants, but he should now better.

It's a matter of following the rules, policy, regulations

Armstrong still thinks of himself as above the law and above reproach, and THAT'S what bothers me. I don't know if Armstrong did anything during his 20 minute shower, no one else here does either. It's his public protestations about the tester, the process, the invasion of his privacy, ad nauseam that makes me wonder two things: #1 Armstrong: Isn't testing part of the sport you love?, and #2 Armstrong: Why do you protest so much about the testing process - something other cyclists routinely endure without fanfare?

In my experience in life, when the answers to simple questions become elaborate, when the process of explaining one's self becomes a pageant, it's difficult to believe the answer.

Why all the drama, Armstrong?

Whining about testing has become a valuable part of the Armstrong PR machine.

And his U.S. fans eat it up like candy. Afterall, he can play up the whole anti-France sentiment that bubbles just below the surface in the U.S.

The whole thought of France makes me suddenly thirsty for a great white burgundy. ;)

In France a shower is called a douche

Why is it required that after stage riders slated for testing have escorts to take them to the control? So they don't have a 20 minute shower on the way there.

The whole story about LA's "transparency" is a joke. Catlin, posting of blood values...
He doesn't want to play by the rules and yet wants to be part of the game.

Why all the bother? Why not mark it as a missed test. He would be allowed three of those, as Rasmussen was. The results came back negative, he acted strangely. Nothing is proven either way. Mark it as a missed test, give a warning and move on. Each person comes to this argument with their own prejudices. It is very obvious by the words and tones of each post where those prejudices lie and to whom they belong. Personally I don't believe Armstrong is a threat to win the Tour. I believe Contador will ride away with it. I believe Armstrong wants the Ventoux stage, that's it. Love him or hate him, it will be more interesting with him there. I am more excited for the Giro to tell the truth.

This thread is crazy.
You know the one thing I still can't understand, if he doped to win he's tours and seemingly got away with it- why has he come back? If he is a doper HE WILL GET CAUGHT this time, I have no doubt.
A record 7 TDF wins and a worldwide sporting legend in the eyes of the general public, he has alot to lose.
Until there is absolute proof I still think he's clean.

Slowoldman,
you bring up a couple of great observations. The chicken got 3 chances. Give LA 2 more and move on. you are right.
You probably have a point LA is no tour contentender and the Giro will be a lot more entertaining. Usually is more entertaining. I was at the Giro last year and man, it is a circus!

Why would you ever think that? How many riders have doped for years and only been unlucky enough to be ensared in a police investigation? How many have been caught once but have been doping for years? Look at Hamilton's Fuentes doping schedule sometime. That dude was using some type of substance or another every other day, and he only got caught because he was stupid enough to ignore the warning about his blood values.

There is absolute proof. He tested positive for EPO six times. What more do you want? Video of him actually injecting the drugs?
