So "nobody" wants to talk about doping. But he was hurt that "the media" (always a convenient scapegoat) thinks he's doping, so much so that it sullied his victory on Ventoux. So is it that nobody wants to talk about it or is it that people talk about it so much that it ruins his victory?

I find the twists and turns difficult to follow.

What he is saying is that he believes that the fans don't want to talk about doping but that all the press seem to want to do is bring it up all the time. There are no "twists and turns" there.

“I genuinely believe people want to stop talking about doping now. They want to have someone to believe in,” says Froome. Like him perhaps? “Well, I definitely feel a responsibility to show people the sport has changed. I understand why there are still a lot of critics, cynicism and doubters out there. Of course, no-one can actually know 100 per cent if I’m clean or not, except me. And I know I am, that my results will stand the test of time.

“We can’t force people to believe, it’s going to take time. I know I have a big responsibility but it’s not hard to be clean and to be a champion. Doping has never ever crossed my mind. It’s not an option. I’d rather go and scrub factory floors for a living than cheat to get where I am.”
Some serious God syndrome there, all hail to our clean savior.

He also states he doesnt know how to prove he is clean? Well, wasnt that whole Grappe PR spin to prove that? Just show the pre - 2011 power files to people who know their stuff Chris, they will tell if the 'progress' is plausible.

No? The media just talking about and printing things no one is interested in again, eh? You'd think they would be better at their jobs than that.

... but it’s not hard to be clean and to be a champion.

Seems Froome is selling snakeoil. It is not hard to be CLEAN and be a CHAMPION.

Sh!t why did no one tell all the dopers!!!!

What a complete idiot that he thinks all cycling fans are idiots.

I thought it was hard, the training, the dieting, the staying healthy, staying out crashes, tactics, the pain.......so Froome is saying that it is not hard? So what was he doing before Vuelta'11? Hmmm he is on some good dope if it makes it feel like a walk in the park. But then he did win the TdF by the 1st MTF.

I never considered the possibility that he could become better, simply because I didnt think it would be possible. But if they are serious about this stuff then wow..

All the talk about wanting to winning multiple grand tours, the badzilla gone for good, and now this. I guess he is preparing everyone for what is to come.

The 3 point plan to winning the Tour:

“If you’d told me just a couple of years ago in July 2011 when I was sitting at home watching the Tour, unsure if I’d even get a contract in 2012, I’d have said ‘you’re kidding’. I put it down simply to three things – losing a bit of weight, different racing tactics and just being healthy

And cleans!

Lose a bit if weight, different race tactics and be healthy! Simples!

The Froome Dog Millionaire has a rare comedic genius...
his timing, his phrasing, his impeccable deadpan delivery
are without equal, especially in today's professional peloton.

That his humour goes right over the head of many does not
make it any less brilliant.

The juxtaposition of 'scrubbing factory floors' with the recent
signing of a three year/ten million contract is beyond category,
haute hilarity.

I am liking how he in preparing for martian doping. His head is really undergoing alien like morphology.

he is visionary, Sir Chris. He sees things unveiling half a decade before the mere mortals and plebs in the clinic.

How will Hoy and Cav appreciate, when he is i) earning more, and ii) getting more recognition, and iii) taking Cav's position as the next cycling knighthood.

And there will be a doping blunder in the next decade in the UK, which will surely unearth some skeletons in GB Cycling. So Peter Kennaugh and G Thomas might be left out of the gravy train and knightoods.

how will they take missing out on the murdoch trough

I see the parallel. I'll admit, if I saw someone in the 17th century, sitting on an inaninate object, zooming vertically upwards at an alarming rate which can't be explained by physics and laughing while doing so, I probably would argue it's a witch.

I use the same standards to find my dopers.

Chris and Michelle do not have kids of their own, so he uses the kids from the old country as his inspiration to not dope instead...

Doping has never ever crossed my mind. It’s not an option. I’d rather go and scrub factory floors for a living than cheat to get where I am.”

How could he when he thinks about the responsibility he owes to those young African cycling dreamers sleeping five to a floor, just as he once did, in the same old Kenyan village tin shack where his first mentor David Kinjah taught him “to love the bike”? Last month, he returned for a two-week holiday there. “Very emotional,” he said. “It felt almost incredible that this is where it all started. Only seven years ago, I’d been there and in that time, I’d basically gone right from the bottom of this sport, from riding around in the hills here, to winning the biggest race there is.”

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/ot...nt-to-win-multiple-Tour-de-France-titles.html

He is not the only one who thinks it is incredible...

Good thing the Telegraph journo didn't ask any "controversial" questions regarding his victory...
- What was it like holding press conferences with cameras being banned?
- Did you agree with the Sky secrecy regarding your performance data?
- Are you seriously expecting people not to question climbing that could be copy/pasted into any and all epo-era tours?

Et cetera....

Such questions would be very very insulting to this clean era god.

How could doping never come to the mind of a pro rider?
Seriously, he never even thought about doping?
Froome reminds me of the "next generation" who claim to refuse taking so much as a Tylenol tablet.
Methinks he needs a better PR agent.

Just read the linked article. I reckon Ian Chadband of The Telegraph is looking for a Froome book writing gig when David Walsh gets off the gravy train. He's a believer.

I like that this thread has now become vortex proof and skybot free.

Speaks volumes about the ridiculousness of Froome.

Especially as it was almost exactly 3 years (Tyler Hamilton's "magical number") between Froome switching to a British racing license and Froome riding for a British team, but not at the Tour, sitting in his room, watching it, no contract on the horizon, about be ejected from his shot at the big time.

18 months riding for Sky and noone's told him how to race properly, noone's suggested he lose weight.

Then -BOOM- lose some weight and buy some "tactics" and he can podium 2011 Vuelta out of nowhere.

Truly incredible.
