his diminished TT ability and his strange climbing tactics coincide exactly with him getting caught with the inhaler and cortisone TUE

I think it's more to do with crashes. He takes ages to recover from them and probably doesn't train well with them, so lacks sharpness when he comes back. By the 3rd week of the Vuelta last year and in Andalucia this year - when he was close to full sharpness - his climbing style and attacks were nearly as ridiculous as they were in the Dauphine.

You mean he is not the same after Dauphine last year? He quit horse steroids and is just on vitamins lately?

i think the cortisone and the inhaler were just part of a very advanced doping regimen, and now he's obviously missing something that he can't use them anymore.

well they clearly weren't the be all end all of his programme since he is still finishing in the top 20 of tts and mountain stages, even came 2nd in the last gt only a few months ago, rather than 30th at best which is what would happen if he tried it sans peds.

I seem to remember another super doped up rider who used to claim that because he could spin so much faster than others he didn't use as much energy and could harder for longer, apparently lance was taught that media excuse (sorry riding technique) by Miguel Indurain. Of the "we would never dope" spanish contingent.

Funny you mention that...

He wouldn't make the top 30. Not even close...

I'm talking about Froome not Wiggins. ;) Froome did come 34th or something in the Giro once. So with a bit of better guidance, more focused training, more confidence, the right breakaways, I think its entirely possible he could crack the top 30.

Unless you are saying he was already doping in 2009 which is of course also entirely possible, but I was thinking more of the new doping programme he got put on in 2011 which created such a massive jump.

PS, this discussion just reminded me of a very popular argument from one of the Sky crowd in 2012 which was that 10th place in a gt is worth exactly the same as 180th place, and that thereby Wiggins didn't improve 130 places from 2006 to 2009, by going from 134th to 4th, he improved 6 places :D I think the guy really believed it too.

His ability to do monster TTs in any environment really seems to have disappeared. I mean, where is the guy who was only defeated by Bradley whilst being a domestique, came third in the Olympic time trial and dominated in 2013? Was the Tony Martin defeating time trial his last of note?

But the Tour will be won with mutant climbing this year, not mutant time trialling, and he's shown that if everything goes right, he's as ridiculous a climber as ever in Andalucia.

Don't forget, 5th fastest tt in TDF history, and would have been 3rd fastest if not for a late heavy headwind that most riders that day managed to avoid

Very curious to see what Froome does this year. If he falls off like Wiggins, things will only get more suspicious.

And also, wow, Wiggins riding on a team named after himself, his name all over everything. Just a tad bit of self-loving going on...

In a recent interview Wiggo revealed that WIGGINS was brought into being only because Sir Dave denied him his right to bask in the adulation of the British fans in the 2014 Tour.

I am finding "Inside Team Sky" incredibly difficult to read. I dislike Millar, have no feelings about Froome, but even Millar's biography was more readily digestible.

You could retitle this book something like, "Only I am allowed to accuse dopers, and you guys are all wrong. Leave my buddy alone!", by David Walsh.

Every chapter leaves me feeling uncomfortable with the defensive whitewash with which Walsh paints the team and its riders. I close each chapter with the word, sycophant, rolling around in my head.

Shake. My. Head.

while i'm no doubt curious about froome's reaction (if any), it's a pretty ignorant comment from stakhovsky.

It's gonna be a busy night for Cound :D

Might be costly for Tennis player Stakhovsky........ ;)
nah, sky won't sue, it will look too much like Lance.

Instead Counddawg is blocking random Federer fans on twitter. Comedy gold.

Allegedly Stakhovsky partner does the tweeting in that relationship......

Most tennis players live in Monaco so Stakhovsky might know more that we think.
